Feb 28, 2015 5:37 PM in response to Mike Sombrioby Malcolm Aime,i ended up reseting the smc yesterday and nothing happened. at all. i think this is a common problem i guess but the solution that others use with copy pasting ""sudo killall VDCAssistant" into terminal didn't work for me. and im not sure why.

There's a possibility that it failed at some point or that someone opened the laptop up to repair something and either broke something or didn't reconnect things properly.
