Q: Upgraded from a Late2009 mac mini to a Mid2011
I have a Late'09 Mac Mini with a SSD in it. I purchased a Mid'11 Mini and would like to use the same SSD. However I tried to make a backup of my SSD onto my new HD, just to keep it safe. I used Time Machine to back it up, but when I try to restore in the "new" mac I can't pass the gray screen unless I boot into the safe mode. I tried to reset all P's and V's - Checked the disk with disk aid, fixed disk, fixed permissions. Booted into safe mode and deselected all and any login items. I booted into verbose mode, but after a while doing the job, it also gets to the gray screen. I wonder if there's a boot log or something so I can figure out exactly where the boot is holding up.
There are no peripherals in the '11 mac.
Provided I wasn't even able to restore the HD with TM, I'm pretty sure that taking the SSD out from the '09 and installing the '11 will get the same boot issue, and I cannot afford to be without a mac. I run thru all possible blogs, support pages, tips, instructions on how to revert this, but I simply can't.
Formatting the SSD and reinstalling all programs would be obviously the LAST resort.
Any ideas?
