Mar 4, 2015 10:23 AM in response to eeretby BDAqua,Hi, in System Preferences>Network, Does Internal Modem show up there?
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).
Click OK.

Mar 4, 2015 11:43 AM in response to BDAquaby eeret,Hello BDAqua,
Thanks for the suggestion but I have already tried adding those DNS numbers with no success. They are the same DNS numbers I have used successfully in 10.4 for the last few years.
I then changed them to the same DNS numbers used in my original successful pre-Migration 10.5 which are 207.69.188.187 and 207.69.188.186.
None of these changes have allowed the Modem to dial or connect.
There is no error message , just "connecting...connecting...connecting............disconnecting...disconnecting. ..disconnecting

Mar 4, 2015 11:59 AM in response to eeretby BDAqua,Just wondering, did you make a New Location first?
In Modem>Advanced, is it set to Apple v.90?
Any Proxies set there?
-
Mar 4, 2015 2:16 PM in response to BDAquaby eeret,Yes , I went through the New Location set-up the first time it wouldn't connect after Migration.
I tried v.90 and v.92 (v.92 was selected by Migration Assistant)
Under the Proxies Tab only the "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" box is checked , same as the Un-Migrated 10.5

Mar 4, 2015 2:46 PM in response to eeretby eeret,Hi BDAqua,
Should I try "Import Configurations' under the little gear from my External HD which has the Un-Migrated 10.5 ?
-
Mar 4, 2015 3:51 PM in response to eeretby BDAqua,May as well give it a try, I don't really think that'll do it, but shouldn't hurt.
-
Mar 4, 2015 4:40 PM in response to BDAquaby eeret,I can't see where to import from, selecting "import configurations" just shows me all the folders on the 10.5 volume. System Preferences is greyed out.

Mar 4, 2015 5:08 PM in response to eeretby BDAqua,So, you can't navigate to 10.4, or is that gone now?
Might try the v.34 driver.
What are the Fax settings?
If you pick up the land line, does it report busy then?
Can you hear anything if you pick it up when it says connecting?
-
Mar 4, 2015 8:17 PM in response to BDAquaby eeret,Yes 10.4 is still there on another partition.
v.34 does same, no dial, no connect. I have the Modem sound turned and it never has even dialed on 10.5 Migration. 10.4 on other partition dials and connects
No Fax settings.
It doesn't report busy, just continues to say "connecting..."
Steady dial tone on land line.

Mar 6, 2015 1:58 PM in response to BDAquaby eeret,★HelpfulHi BDAqua,
Thanks so much for all the help with this problem.
I've decided to not worry about the 10.5 dial-up problem for now. I will boot 10.4 if I need to use dial-up.
Again, thanks for your time.
