Nov 5, 2014 8:35 AM in response to Techmexby piratejoe1620,I have been having this problem on my Mac for a year now (ever since upgrading to 10.8). I thought that OS 10.9 would be better but the problem just got worse. We have six printers in the office and everyone is connected (wired) to all of the printers except for the two Canons that my salesperson (using a Dell notebook running Windows 7) and I use on our desks. We can print wirelessly without any problems to any of the other printers in the office (all HPs), but have all of the same problems defined by all of the posts above with our two Canon printers. For the last year or so, I (who has been a PC and Mac user since day one and consider myself computer literate) and my network company have tried everything discussed above and more. The printers will work for a document or two or even longer, but then the same error 300 again. I won't get into everything tried except to say that we have done it all and more than anyone above has described. I am now convinced that it is a Mac/Canon wireless only problem about which neither company is really concerned. The Windows issue is not nearly as bad, but it is still an issue. Although I used to love the Canon printer and Multifunction line of products, we just cannot function any longer with this problem. In the past year, I have changed everything except for the printers and, like I said, we have had no problems printing wirelessly to three HP printers (HP 4300, HP 4600 and HP 5200). I have now decided to find the nearest comparable HP printer to change out the Canon in my office (MG 8220), and if that solves the problem, I will also replace the other on the Windows 7 PC.

Nov 14, 2014 5:06 PM in response to Paul Reddinby Laurelhomeoffice,This was the only suggestion that worked for me on a 10.6.8 OSX with a Canon PIXMA MX922. On my router, the DHCM (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) was set to automatically reassign a new IP address every 24 hours. Via my router's local network settings page I created a DHCP "reservation" for the printer so that the printer IP address would remain static and not be reassigned every 24 hours. I have been able to access the printer with no issues for over a week now.

Nov 21, 2014 4:59 PM in response to Laurelhomeofficeby bobbd,I too have a Canon PIXMA MX922. My problem started when I upgraded to Yosemite. Before that I was on Mavericks and everything was fine. As soon as I upgraded I started getting error 300. I'd have to unplug the printer to get it to go again.
I've just set a static IP so I'll see whether this works. Thanks for the idea.

Nov 21, 2014 5:15 PM in response to bobbdby Ron R,I have a Canon Pixma MX350 that would get the 300 error code all the way back to using Snow leopard. Then with Lion and Mountain Lion. No different with Yosemite. It works fine for a while, then loses connection, having to turn it off and on again.

Nov 28, 2014 12:57 PM in response to Ron Rby bobbd,It's been a week since I set a static IP and I've had no trouble at all. Before I would have to restart the printer every day or two.

Dec 11, 2014 7:39 AM in response to Bartlett3000by Pieter De Jong,Had the same issue with a Canon MG5200 series printer.
Suddenly could not print anymore through WiFi, other printers in network (both Mac and PC) had no printing problems.
Solution that works:
1. Go to Printers and Scanners in your System Preferences.
2. The printer should already show in the list at the left.
4. Select it and delete it by clicking on the - sign.
5. Then add a new printer by clicking the + sign/
6. After a short while, the printer should show.
7. Just add it then.
Strangely enough I had to do this multiple times the last weeks but everytime it does work.
Maybe it is a corrupt preference file causing this.

Dec 11, 2014 7:01 PM in response to Pieter De Jongby bobbd,You say that you had to do this a number of times. Does the problem recur after a while? Because that's what happened to me.
I gave up and plugged in a USB cable.

Dec 11, 2014 11:34 PM in response to bobbdby Pieter De Jong,Yes, after some while it repeated itself, so I have added the printer at least 3 times the last weeks.

Jan 5, 2015 10:21 PM in response to TBannorby MikeMod524,Thank you! This worked wonderfully, and it is almost too simple of a solution. How annoying and stupid this problem is with this printer to not stay connected.
-
Jan 6, 2015 5:40 AM in response to MikeMod524by bobbd,This is annoying. There does not seem to be a permanent solution. I've tried all the suggestions here. Assigning a permanent address, removing and adding the printer, turning the printer off and on, and I've also reloaded drivers. I had said that I gave up and connected the printer via a long USB cable. That worked for a while and then I had the problem again a couple of days ago.
Normally I'd say that the simplest solution was to turn the printer off and on. Unfortunately, the MX922 takes forever to power off. It's a great printer, but some things are ridiculously slow. So I end up pulling the plug.
Just ran a little experiment. I brought up the printer app, went to settings, and clicked on Supply Levels. It came back "Information not available". When I closed the box, I had Support Code 300 showing. So I unplugged the USB cable from the hub and plugged it in again, and was able to get supply levels. But if I clicked OK and then tried to get supply levels again, I once again got Information not available and the code 300. Granted, I did not attempt to print, but it should not be this flaky.

Jan 27, 2015 11:55 PM in response to bobbdby McMattes,Hey,
had the same issue with a Canon MG5450 series printer.
Suddenly could not print anymore through WiFi, etc.
other printers in our network no printing problems, resp. the HP´s running fine.
Solution that works for me after hours & hours testing :-(
- Go to Printers & Scanners in your System Preferences.
- Delete the Canon printer (in my case the Canon) from the list, by clicking the "-" sign.
- went to the Canon Website and download the actual OS 10.10 driver software
(Care; it seems like that only the version for 10.10 works, nothing else in my case, even that mean 10.X or higher).
- Install the software form canon.
- Then add the Canon printer again by clicking the + sign.
- After a while, the printer appears.
- Just add it then.
- BUT during the installation procedure for "Add printer" in the last chapter OS ask for "print using"!
- Instead of "Airprint" or "Autom." I went to "select driver to use.."
- Choose the "new" canon driver I installed before.
- confirm & done
Actually it works so fare and cross my fingers!
Maybe it is a corrupt OS driver for a hand full of printer spec. Canon causing this?
Best Mat

Mar 4, 2015 5:01 PM in response to McMattesby Boyjohn,Re Support code: 300, my Canaon MG3500 Printer. I have just picked up on this thread. After scanning a number of document recently, I couldn't print from my iMac but was able to copy material. Frustrated I pulled the power plug whilst the machine was powered on, waited 10 seconds and put the plug back in the power socket. After the whistle and bells - hello - out came the copy I was trying to print. Have printed off another paper just fine. Fluke or not ??
-
Mar 4, 2015 5:45 PM in response to Boyjohnby bobbd,Depends what you define as a fluke. In this case I'd call it a workaround. When you power on, the printer gets detected. Unfortunately you have to power off before you can power on. I used to use the power off power on technique as one of the many I tried.
That said, I have not had a problem for at least a month. I wonder if 10.10.2 fixed the problem. Anyone?
Of course having said that, I'll get the problem the next time I print.
