Q: Yosemite Maps red pin favorites not working

Hello,

I've noticed for a while that some iOS 8 Maps favorites that sync to OS X Yosemite Maps come through as red pins which do nothing when selected in the Maps desktop application.

Any ideas? This makes much of Maps useless.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Maps

Right-click or control-click the line and select

             Services Reveal in Finder

from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.Maps" selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the folder to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Relaunch the application and test. If there's no change, quit again and put the item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the folder you moved. The list of recent places displayed in Maps will be lost.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

    Hello.

Thanks for the instructions. I just did them. When I opened Apple Maps again, ALL the pins were red and therefore not functioning.

I returned the folder and got back to where I was....mostly functioning purple pins and a few, non-functioning red pins.

Any other ideas or where to look?

    Thanks,

    Justin

but I find no such folder or file as mentioned above - ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Maps

right now I use my iphone-usb as web access

    What do you think, guys?

Thank you for the advice.  I have been having the same issue. There is a whole list of red pins in Maps on OS X 10.10.3, which just do not do anything, when clicking on them. And none of the pins is purple.  The favourites were created on my iPhone 4S (latest iOS version).

I have followed your instructions of moving the whole Container directory, re-starting Maps, re-placing the newly created container with the original one, etc...  All pins remain red. The strange thing is, the red pins are visible on the MBP soon after I had created them on the iPhone. But they remain inactive.

Any other suggestions, what else could be wrong?
