It has only happened twice since I got it about a week ago, but it's been when no intensive apps or games are running - simply when I'm on the web or on the Facebook app. It's also worth mentioning that I have already exchanged the iPad due to loose/wiggling volume buttons. Additionally, I am occasionally getting a loud popping noise from my speakers - and there's a distinct rattling when at any volume higher than around 50%. Finally, the keyboard is quite laggy, along with select/copy/paste, and clicking on any links in apps or in browser. Overall, I'm not impressed. For an $800 tab, there shouldn't be so many issues. Will probably return for the tab S or really anything that isn't so buggy... And it will be far less expensive. Sorry Apple, but this is just subpar for the cost.

These BSODs don't seem to go away- just get progressively worse. It feels like there is a systemic component failure in the iPads themselves, to have so many problems like this. But Apple is still sticking to "it's a hardware problem', most likely caused by something in a software update.
I had to pay $300 for my iPad Air to be replaced. I'm sending back the replacement iPad tomorrow- the touch screen is now completely dead after multiple restores. After having over 15 or so Macs since 1993 (Centris 610), I've never had a problem like this with an Apple product.

I had experienced the blue screen issue for the first time this weekend, Occured frequently while my son was playing Minecraft PE. The problem didn't occur under normal load (browsing, e-mail, netflix). However, in an attempt to recreate to problem I downloaded Modern Combat 5. This app couldn't run for more than 5 seconds before triggering the blue screen issue, tried this about 10 times. The ipad could only be reset to normal operation using the two-buttons-10-seconds method. After this, i charged the iPad overnight, in the morning it failed to boot, got stuck in the boot sequence.
Returned it to the premium reseller. They couldn't restore the iPad due to an error code.
iPad has now been sent by reseller to Apple for repair.
Smells like broken hardware to me...
The Premium reseller (Amac, Rotterdam, Holland) said that they expected (if no water damage present) that the device would be replaced.

Jan 21, 2015 9:47 PM in response to Techno_funkyby Usolando,on my ipad air 16gb wifi i occasionally encounter this problem while charging every time i check my ipad if its on 100% charge i notice that it say " please enter your passcode after restarting your ipad ". random reboot show up sometimes when im on facebook messenger blue screen then apple logo some times it never finish the whole booting process i already restored my ipad air but the problem persist so i do some reset all setting got one blue screen but so far no blue screen at all crossfinger. ill just wait for the fix on the next update hopefully.

Please fix - it is annoying.

is anyone at Apple working on this problem? IOS 8 was fine but 8.1
and 8.1.3 started the random reboots. Very, very annoying - especially
when data is lost or replies are time sensitive. Please, please fix

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.
