Force an app to close on your Mac - Apple Support
- Repair the disk via Disk Utilities
- If not successful the push and hold the Power button to turn the computer off. Then restart and open the Console app in Finder>Applications>Utilities and look for suspicious log entries associated with that app at the time of the problem.

Mar 8, 2015 8:12 PM in response to kwd515by kwd515,I am new to MAC, and I did not understand a thing in the console. I couldn't force quit because everything was unresponsive. It did not even want to turn off with the power button, so I unplugged it. I will try the Disk Utilities now.
