Q: Item is not moving to trash. Sitting on my desktop with spinning blue/white strip

I tried to move an item to the trash, but now have that rectangular blue/white spinning strip on my desktop saying it's moving to trash, but it is not. Is not responding to stop. Can't shut down cause it says finder is in use. How to get this item into the trash, deleting this spinning on my desktop?

I understand that you are unable to delete or move items to the trash on your MacBook Pro Here are the steps that I would go through for this.

You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash

Thanks Jason for taking the time to send the Apple info. It will come in handy. Solution to my problem was one big duh....don't know why I didn't think of it first. All I had to do is relaunch finder, problem went away. Thanks again
