Mar 9, 2015 5:00 PM in response to georgewengerby MartinR,When you created your iDVD project, did you make sure to select Widescreen (16:9)? Check that first - it's easy to overlook that in iDVD. Open your iDVD project, then in the menu strip select Project > Project Info and look at what it says for Aspect Ratio.
Second thing, what are the sequence settings for your FCE project? (Specifically, your sequence settings for compressor, frame size & vid rate - control-click the name of the sequence in your FCE Browser and then select Item Properties to see the settings).

Mar 10, 2015 4:00 AM in response to MartinRby georgewenger,I have done the first part and everything is set to 16 x 9 then I made a disc image and it still is making it 4 x 3. Now on the sequence settings for your FCE project, I am not sure what should they be?

Mar 11, 2015 6:20 AM in response to georgewengerby MartinR,OK, you have anamorphic DV video. That's 16:9 shot in a DV 4:3 frame. Lots of miniDV cameras can shoot that but iDVD doesn't understand it, and that's why you are getting 4:3 results.
There's a workaround that Tom Wolsky documented some years ago -> Anamorphic material in iDVD Back when I last had to deal with this problem, the QT Pro technique worked for me, but the iDVDedit technique did not. There was a third approach involving yet another editor but I don't remember what the software was because I tried it and it didn't work and I promptly forgot what it was.

Mar 11, 2015 6:26 AM in response to MartinRby Alchroma,Hello Martin,
Your response mirrors what I was going to suggest.
The other app to use is called Anamorphiser, although it seemed unreliable in my experience. QT 7 pro is rock solid.
I'm pretty sure Streamclip will also manual alter the frame size but chapter markers are stripped out.

Mar 11, 2015 2:17 PM in response to Alchromaby georgewenger, just one question, I have done the exact same thing in the past many times as I video weddings and events for people but I don't remember having this problem before. Is there something I have done to cause this problem? I use two cameras one is a Canon GL1 and the other is a Panasonic not sure the model no. but neither are HD but again I have used and burnt DVD's in the past and they worked.

Mar 11, 2015 8:22 PM in response to georgewengerby MartinR,If it worked before, but not now, two possibilities come to mind ...
- When you created your sequence in FCE did you select DV NTSC or did you select DV NTSC Anamorphic (or DV NTSC Anamorphic Basic). If it wasn't one of the anamorphic easy setups, that may be a source of the problem if you had anamorphic DV clips.
- Have you upgraded anything in your system, for example OS X or QT? An OS upgrade could be at the root of a change like this, so could updating from QT 7 to QT X.
Also, what version of FCE are you using and what versions of OS X and QT do you have?

Mar 11, 2015 8:28 PM in response to Alchromaby MartinR,Yes, now I remember, it was Anamorphicizer. I could never get it to do what Tom said it could do.

Mar 13, 2015 7:20 PM in response to MartinRby georgewenger,I have FCE 4.0.1 OS X = 10.5.8 QT = 7.6.9
I am looking at Sequence Preset and it is set on DV NTSC 48 kHz, So should I change it to DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic?

Mar 14, 2015 4:01 AM in response to georgewengerby Alchroma,Yes.
Create a New Sequence with that setting then copy/paste the contents of the other one into the new one.
