Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your iPod nano will not boot past the Apple logo, and it will not allow you to restore through iTunes. To troubleshoot this issue, please follow the steps in the article below.
iPod only shows an Apple logo and doesn't start up - Apple Support

Mar 11, 2015 5:53 PM in response to alex_h1by tiffanyboho,Thanks for the info. I got the ipod into disk mode and went through the restore process, When it went to reboot after step 1 it went back into an apple logo loop. I put it back in disk mode and itunes recognized it as a new ipod. I'm syncing now but have no confidence that it will boot to normal mode. or work at all when disconnected from the computer. Whats my next step if it still doesn't boot after sync and/or wont do anything when disconnected?

Mar 12, 2015 7:01 AM in response to tiffanybohoby alex_h1,Hi tiffanyboho,
The next step if you cannot get the device to restore in Disk Mode, or for it to stay in Disk Mode, would be step 5 in the article I previously posted, to get the iPod serviced.
Have a good one,
Alex H.
