Mar 9, 2015 12:03 PM in response to appleisconfusing2meby sterling r,Howdy there,
It sounds like you want to sync your phone to your computer but at the moment it is synced to your moms computer and home sharing isn't working. The reason for Home Sharing not working is that it requires the same Apple ID be signed into the service on BOTH the computers that it is set up on according to this troubleshooting article:
Home Sharing requires all computers, iOS devices, and Apple TVs (2nd generation and 3rd generation) to use the same Apple ID.
You could have her setup Home Sharing on your computer with her Apple ID and copy the content over, and then sync your device with your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Regards,
Sterling

Mar 10, 2015 6:39 PM in response to appleisconfusing2meby Libbywilder,I have the same problem. Two pc's. One apple id. One wifi. Still no sharing. Apple support severely disappointing. Canned responses. Does not want to acknowledge there's a problem.

Mar 11, 2015 3:02 PM in response to sterling rby Libbywilder,Not helpful. I have already been through the trouble-shooting process. I have turned home sharing off and then reinstated it. There is no "Settings" button that is mentioned in one of the tutorials. Why, Sterling, don't you provide an answer when obviously many customers are having the same problem?

Mar 14, 2015 9:10 AM in response to sterling rby Libbywilder,After you enable home sharing there is a crucial step - that Apple doesn't bother to explain. Go to the upper left corner of your screen, right above File. You will see a house icon with notes in it. Click on this icon and it will have an option: Share Jane's library. Click on this icon and the library will be shared. WARNING: If you are on your main computer, the share will refer to the other person's computer, which probably has nothing on it to share. So, go to the OTHER computer and enable home-sharing. Then it will say: share appleisconfusing2me library. Click on this and the library should be shared. Other note: for some reason songs in the sharee library disappear for no reason.

Mar 14, 2015 9:17 AM in response to sterling rby Libbywilder,Hey Sterling, every now and then it helps to walk a mile in my shoes. If you went to your own trouble shooting article you would see that the house/notes icon, essential for enabling home sharing, is not described. Cute overtakes clarity. On the trouble shooting text it just looks like junk. On the i-tunes screen it is totally obscure. Your customers are not as stupid as you think they are. Clear directions would be a great help. Walking through your own instructions the way a user would might, just might, open your eyes to sloppy and unclear directions. Yes, once I figured it out it was obvious. but not before.
