Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

    Hi,

I have the same issue: coating is coming off between what should be the trackpad and the keyboard. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013).

    Retina display right????

    I have the same problem

I never saw anything like this before and is my third Macbook Pro. However, this is my first Retina Display one. I'm very disapointed. The screen was supposed to be the strong part of the laptop and it became the worst.

My Macbook is Mid 2012 and I have the same problem. I never saw it happening to non-retina models.

This. My work MBP which is two years older than my retina MBP does not have this issue.  HOW can we get the press in on this? Apple needs to face reality here, and own up to their mistake.

Guys, we must increase visibility of this issue. Please everyone, visit all Apple related website and forums and post wherever there is remote context a link to this thread. Do it on your Facebook, Twitter and whatever other social media account you have.

Thank you in advance for the removal of links, Apple. OBVIOUSLY this post do not bring anything significant to the discussion ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Same issue here, 13" Late 2013 Retina. So far its confined to the upper left of the screen - out of warranty which is a pity but a) this is obviously a design defect with so many people having the same issue and b) it seems even people with a warranty are being refused repair. I haven't contacted Apple directly yet on it - they seem to have made it pretty hard to actually get in contact with anyone.

    Hi all!

Today I send the message below by email to Apple Executive Relations EMEIA.

We have previously had contact as she sent my complaint over the AR Coating coming of my 10 month MBP Retina to "Engineering" for a second opinion.

The answer was: this is due to wrong cleaning and carrying it in a bag. It is not covered by warranty.

Lets see what she responds and lets see how long this post will stay on this forum.

    With kind regards

    Joakim, Denmark / Ethiopia

MBP Retina AR Coating Problems - when will Apple take responsibility for its mistake?

    Hello,

I assume, that you by now have had the time and opportunity to both see, read and forward to Engineering and the relevant managers above you... the discussion thread on the Apple Forum with all the complaints from your customers, the number of which is growing daily.

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6068947?start=0&tstart=0

The discussion is heated, it includes a significant number of angry posts and it will continue to grow as long as Apple refuses to take responsibility and to replace the damaged screens. Apple can of course continue to ignore their problem - not that it will go away - and the forum administrators can keep erasing the posts from the forum that they find “uncontructive”.

Meanwhile we, your much valued customers... will continue relentlessly to send out mass warning mails to our friends, colleagues and other contacts, and we will continue to post warnings on facebook and contribute with posts in online computer magazines and other relevant forums.

We look forward to your speedy and positive answer, one that can bear being posted publicly on Apple Support .

    With kind regards

    Joakim

I suggest you also send the email to Steffen ***********

He took over from Elaine after I kept insisting on speaking to the engineering team directly.

Is there any inventory we can send them? Several people launched forms to gather information on machines with this issue. I think it could be interesting to share that with them, especially indicating the MacBook model, the type of imprints/stains, etc... We need to show them that there are clear patterns, eg. mainly 2012/2013 MBPR models, mainly mousepad/spacebar imprints and/or peeling off around the cam...

I posted this on FB today:

Normally I don't do this, but it has also happened to my own 10 month old almost $3000 Macbook Pro 2013 Retina: The AR Coating comes off the Retina Screen and it looks terrible. And Apple refuses blankly to take any responsibility - even on a product, that should be covered by warranty... Consequently, I feel strongly inclined to warn you before you spend a lot of money on an Apple Product.

    WARNING!

Macbook Pro's loosing their AR Coating and Apple refuses to cover it. They claim it is cosmetic and caused by wrong cleaning, greece from fingers on the keyboard transferred to the screen and from carrying the laptop in a bag... in a bag... a portable computer, mind you.

Please read and do share this link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6068947

Using my laptop as anybody else.

    MacBook Pro Retina Mid 2012.

Slowly but visibly dying already since a year.

This was a 2500 euro device and such problems must be made official to Apple. Absolutely not allowed for such a device.

    APPLE, REACT TO THIS!

You contact info was cancelled by the HOST.

They don't want us to address this issue.

Who can we contact on official level so that we get our screens replaced?
