Q: wireless printer, no longer recognized on OS X 10.10.2

since upgrading to OS X 10.10.2 my HP photosmart plus B209 is not recognized by my computer, wired or wireless.  The test page for the printer worked when it bypassed the drivers to print, so according to my printer troubleshooting this is a driver issue.  I have downloaded the HP printer software update 3.0 with no success to resolve this issue.  Each time I remove the printer, download the HP printer software update 3.0, then add the printer, the same thing happens, I can only add this as USB or USB multifunction, then the install fails.

Everything was fine, working well, before the Yosemite.  Looks like a new driver is needed?

    Hello shopmbs,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that your printer is not functioning as you would expect in Yosemite. You have already completed some great troubleshooting by deleting printer, downloading drivers, and reading printer but the issue continues. One further troubleshooting step I would suggest would be to reset the printing system. For information on how to complete this step, please refer to the attached article.

Thanks very much to both posters for the help.  After uninstalling the HP utility, then reconnecting the printer, I am able to print via USB cable, not ideal but its progress.  I was able to run the HP network configuration page and the network test report, now found that with the wireless radio ON (printer), the test report states its OFF.

Cannot perform router suggestions as we use the airport express (all items purchased together, iMac, printer and airport express).

For now I will live with the USB cable hook-up, at least until I use up my ink supply.

Thanks again for the troubleshooting suggestions.

A few more suggestions for you:

    1. Do a factory reset on your printer. Look at the printer manual for how to do it. On my HP it involves powering it down and removing the power cord for a minute.
    2. Reenter the wifi password on your printer.
    3. Reset your wifi system:
      1. power everything down- your modem, airport express, computer, and printer
      2. wait a few minutes
      3. power them up again, in the same order- modem, airport express, computer, and printer. Allow each to fully power up before moving on to the next.

Thanks.  Did step 1, cannot do step 2 as my printer cannot see the airport express, and on step 3 I did this but in a different order, so will try again.  Maybe I need to research using the usbport of the airport express?  Thanks again.
