Are you using the new Photos.app - still being Beta tested? That does not support geotagging. Right now, you have to import the photos already with GPS tags added.
So add the location data in iPhoto 9.6, before you import the photos to "Photos (Beta)", if your photos have not been taken with a camera, that adds GPS automatically.

Mar 15, 2015 3:20 AM in response to LarryHNby rbarton22,I think Léonie is probably right (see below). I have Photo 1.0 on my iMac which is a Beta version hence why it is not quite right. apple obviously still have a lot of work to do on it to make it as user friendly as the old version.
