Q: Locations in iphoto

How do I edit locations in the new (and in my opinion NOT improved) iPhoto? Those with locations bring up a map eventually but I cannot change the location or add a location to unallocated photos.

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010), OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

In the Info panel for the photo type a place name into the field, where it says, assign a place and select the place from the drop-down menu.

You can add your own places in the menu "Window > Manage My Places".

Hi. Thanks. For the advise but this is how it was under old iPhoto before the latest update. Doesn't seem to be anyway of adding or editing locations in new iPhoto for Yosamite. hopefully Apple will fix soon.

Not sure what you are doing but that is from the latest released version of iPhoto (iPhoto 9.6)  and that is how it works - what version of iPhoto do you have?

Are you using the new Photos.app - still being Beta tested?  That does not support geotagging. Right now, you have to import the photos already with GPS tags added.

So add the location data in iPhoto 9.6, before you import the photos to "Photos (Beta)", if your photos have not been taken with a camera, that adds GPS automatically.

I think Léonie is probably right (see below). I have Photo 1.0 on my iMac which is a Beta version hence why it is not quite right. apple obviously still have a lot of work to do on it to make it as user friendly as the old version.
