Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you are no longer seeing an option to scan on your Canon PIXMA MX882 printer. The attached link below contains a comprehensive list of currently supported printer and scanner models as of February 19, 2015 and your printer is on the list, but it doesn’t seem to include support for scanning.
OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download - Apple Support

Mar 14, 2015 7:18 AM in response to joe_7399by FWBurr,Thanks, Joe. Yes, my printer is "supported" but only for scanning by MP Navigator EX (and not through the OS printer dialogue). Other responders tell me the scanner drivers for my printer are incompatible with 10.10.2 and Canon support won't give me a yes or no answer on that issue, so I assume it's "no". Possibly Canon will be updating its drivers in the near future.

Mar 15, 2015 5:01 AM in response to Eric Rootby FWBurr,No. I downloaded VueScan but didn't install once I got things working with a newer version of MP Navigator EX. Not as convenient as the scanner tab, but a reasonable workaround until the scanner driver is updated. I'll look at VueScan FAQ though - thanks for the link.
