Mar 13, 2015 5:35 PM in response to andrewhmmby mikecaca,This is very si,liar to the problems I’m having with my HP Photosmart Premium all-in-one printer. I have not been able to scan documents to my computer since I upgraded to the latest OS system which is very frustrating.
I believe Apple should be responsible for making perfectly good printers obsolete because they have upgraded to newer operating systems. Why doesn’t apple do something to assist us?

Mar 14, 2015 9:32 AM in response to Robert36340by Democleides,Yosemite obviously does not like printing. I have two Kodak printers - an Office Hero 6.1 and an Office share 5500, both worked fine in Maverick. Now they both quit apps on printing unsaved files. PhotoShop quits half the time even if you save first. Kodak went out of the printer biz awhile back and has not updated their drivers. They supplied a fix to written into the system using the Console, but it's useless.

Mar 17, 2015 4:54 PM in response to Robert36340by iknewthis,For Network Users (if applicable):
- Connect your Brother machine and your Macintosh to the network.
If you have not connected the machine to your network, click here to see how to configure the Brother machine for a network. - Select "System Preferences" from the Apple Menu.
- Click the "Printers & Scanners" icon.
- Click the "+" button which is located below the "Printers" section.
- Click the "Default" icon which is located at the top of the dialog box.
- Select your machine from the "Name" list.
- Make sure that "XXXXXXX + CUPS" is selected in the "Use" list. (Where XXXXXXX is your model name.)
- Click "Add". The printer is now available in the "Printers & Scanners" list.
- Select "Quit System Preferences" from the Apple Menu. The setup is now complete.
Fixed mine like this. steps 5- 7 is important.
- Connect your Brother machine and your Macintosh to the network.

Mar 22, 2015 9:08 AM in response to iknewthisby CorpGreed,I have an Epson WF 3640
Installed all the latest drivers from apple, installed the printer and scanner, both worked fine initially.
Tried to print a few hours later and the Printer can't be found when trying to print.
Tried to open the scanner and it can't connect.
Tried to install with epson's drivers, same thing over and over.
Anyone have a fix for my issue?
Thanks in Advance, This is driving me crazy as i consider myself pretty technical and can't stop this !!!!

Mar 31, 2015 12:31 PM in response to CorpGreedby Warren_Cox,Been having similar issues with an HP and a Samsung printer tonight. HP is AirPrint, Samsung connected via Bonjour / Airport Express.
Tried downloading updated print drivers - didn't fix it
Tried deleting the printers and reinstalling them - didn't fix it
Then decided to:
1) delete printers
2) Utilities / Disk Utility - Click on Macintosh HD and 'verify disk permissions' (a load of cups / print drivers will show as being incorrect)
3) 'repair disk permissions'
4) one complete, turn off your machine and reboot (at this point I did a PRAM reset - when the computer chimes hold P / R / Alt / Cmd simultaneously as you hear the chime. If you do it right there will be a second louder chime, the compute then boots normally)
5) Go to system preferences and reinstall printer
After that the printer seem to be working for now.
Appreciate given the inconsistencies reported this may not work for all (e.g. Xerox users), but if it works for any then it's all good!

Apr 10, 2015 1:24 AM in response to Warren_Coxby Warren_Cox,Scrap that; it worked for a day, became intermittent on the following day, now when I try to connect using the same method it won't work at all.
Given the numerous issues I've had in recent months with iPhoto / Aperture / printing / wi-fi networks / slow web page loading in Safari / awful iTunes Match / issues with playlist sync with iPhone (believe me the list goes on and on), Apple are about to wave goodbye to a loyal customer who has been with them since 1997.
I've always been prepared to pay the premium for the build and relative reliability, but of late most of what they've launched has been approaching Microsoft standards of incompetence. Way to go Apple, and what do you do to respond to your customers??? Nothing.

Apr 14, 2015 7:53 AM in response to linda m.fromupnorthby Tim Hassett,I'm having the EXACT same issue. On 10.10.3, with a wirelessly connected Epson printer. Been printing to it for years....no problems....great printer. Now, after the 10.10.2 update, printing has been a mess. Most of the time, my Macs on my home network do not see the printer and I have to power cycle it to get it to work.
I've tried:
- Resetting the printing system.
- Disconnecting and reconnecting the printer to my wireless network.
- Removing the printer, and re-adding it via preferences. (confirming that I have the most current software)
- Downloading the Epson drivers and installing.
- Re-adding as an AirPrint printer.
- Re-adding as a printer by selecting the model from the drop down.
- Installing the latest firmware for my printer.
So far, nothing is fixing this issue, and the only thing that has changed is my upgrade to 10.10.2.
**One additional thought** - I've got a current generation AirPort Extreme. Perhaps it automatically updated itself and is now somehow blocking or manipulating printing traffic???
Additionally curious:
- Using my browser, I can still connect to the printer administration page by entering in it's IP address.
- I can see the printer's onboard storage from the Finder. It appears as a windows share.
- My wife's old iMac is running OS X 10.8, and is having this issue as well. So I'm thinking maybe it's the AirPort. ??
So it's like the printing traffic is being blocked, but other services are available! ??

Apr 26, 2015 6:17 AM in response to Tim Hassettby CorpGreed,I as well have an Epson printer (WF-3640) been printing fine up until Yosemite. What a nightmare ! APPLE YOU NEED TO FIX THIS!,
There have been numerous Epson updates via app store and none of them have fixed my problem. I can install and it works fine, but as soon as the computer sits, sleeps, or is shutdown the mac can no longer find the printer when trying to scan or print. I even was so frustrated last night i erased my entire drive and reinstalled (Yosemite) wish it was Mavericks, thinking too many drivers were installed and corrupted something. Guess what? Didnt fix it !!!!
I literally installed no drivers and let apple use its drivers to install, same result. Worked for 30 minutes then tried to print again and the Mac can't find the printer. I have noticed i get permission errors i will post it below : Keep in mind this is a fresh install of OSX as of Yesterday. Any help would be extremely appreciated as i have a home office and this is killing me.
Disk Utility: Verify Permissions
Verifying permissions for “MacBook SSD”Group differs on “Library/Printers”; should be 80; group is 0.Group differs on “Library/Printers/Icons”; should be 80; group is 0.Group differs on “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.Permissions differ on “Library/Printers/InstalledPrinters.plist”; should be -rw-rw-rw- ; they are -rw-r--r-- .Permissions differ on “Library/Java”; should be drwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxrwxr-x .Group differs on “Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist”; should be 80; group is 0.Group differs on “Library/Printers/PPDs”; should be 80; group is 0.
Please Help !!!
Thanks in Advance
A very Frustrated apple customer
P.S. I have tried repair permission numerous times, doesn't work !
