Mar 13, 2015 9:16 PM in response to Stevess579by LarryHN,No way to know without details and a history of your library and upgrades
The most likely cause is user error of importing an iPhoto library during a transfer to a new computer - but with no information no one can do any thing but guess

Mar 14, 2015 12:08 AM in response to LarryHNby Stevess579,Im not 100% sure what additional info I can provide, I'm a fanatic keeping my OS up to date as well as my Apps. I do sync my iPhone and iPad on a regular basiS ( which I have a sneaky suspicion this may where the problem may lie). I store my photos in the system generated iPhoto folder, have not made changes to this. My Time Capsule essentially backs up everything 1 for 1, nothing has been tweaked there. I have seen this similar question asked on other sites, with no final solution. So just figured I'd throw it out there. Oh just for the record, when my photos are uploaded from my IOS devices, after the pictures are done uploading, it asks do you want to delete from the device, I select Yes. I may not be a MAC expert but I do take offense to you stating User Error right off the bat, without knowing me or my background. Not to mention I have seen this same question asked on different forums usually with no end result.

Mar 14, 2015 12:55 AM in response to Stevess579by léonie,Im not 100% sure what additional info I can provide,
How do you transfer the Photos from iPad and iPhone? Are you using Photo Stream or connect them to a USB port?
Which OS version are having on your mobile devices? Do you have iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled? (If you are using iCloud Photo Library, deleting the photos from the devices on import does no longer work)
Do you notice duplicates in the Import panel, when you connect the iPhone, iPad to USB? Keep the Camera.app on the devices open, when you import, then the Photo TSream photos will not show as well.
Now most of them are extremely blurry and pixelated.
That suggests, that some an iPhoto library got imported to iPhoto; the pixellated photos are probably thumbnails. Look at one of the pixellated photos in the Info panel in iPhoto. Are their keywords, e.g. Photo stream, and do the pixellated versions show EXIF data like camera model, lens, or are they without meta data?

Mar 14, 2015 7:03 AM in response to Stevess579by LarryHN,Ok - take offense if you want and do not care about resolving the issue
the face is that by far the most common cause (in fact almost exclusive cause) of what you are reporting is user error
And once again we need a history of this library - have you ever moved to a new computer and imported an old library or imported an old library for any reason? That si the most likely cause
but again unless you provide details we can only guess, and when we guess we start with the most likely cause

Mar 14, 2015 12:34 PM in response to léonieby Stevess579,Yes I do transfer my photos using Photo Stream. Oh, and all of my devices are IOS 8.2, and I do use iCloud Photo Stream to sync the pictures on devices. However I do I do NOT use iCloud Photo Library (Beta). As far as the library My Photo Stream, on my Mac I have clicked and dragged this folder from the Mac to my WD MyCloud NAS storage device. In addition, I'm am using an Apple Time Capsule with Time Machine backing up both.
IF you can assist me Great, if not I appreciate your efforts.
THanks for your time, Steve

Which folder is this, exactly? The iPhoto library cannot be on a NAS.

Mar 14, 2015 6:04 PM in response to LarryHNby Stevess579,Larry I was just going to let this go. However, I'm in no way a Mac export, thats obvious. I have been using the Mac for about 5 years. I never had the time to delve into the heart and soul of this awesome machine. It just felt like you were talking down to me. Yes you are obvious superior to me with regards OS X. I do have a technical background, I am a Systems Engineer for the IBM Power System (Mainframe). I actually was in the hospital pretty hopped up on morpphin. I was bored and this is something that I've been trying to tackle. I do a lot of reading and research before I reach out. I thought that was what this group was all about.
Hey no harm no foul, I will except any advice I can get. Have a good night guys and gals.

Ok - that is probably a bad time to attack technical problems and certify a bad time to attack people trying to help you
And still for the third time we need to know the history of this library - the most likely cause (in fact the virtually certain) of your problem is importing an iPhoto library - do you ever do that? If that is it then the best solution is to restore the backup from just before you did this import

Mar 15, 2015 8:13 AM in response to LarryHNby Stevess579,Good Morning Larry and folks, I'm sorry I'm not giving you what you want, I guess because I'm not understanding what you need. The only thing I can tell you, that this is the repository for all of my photos, when I do sync my IOS devices, yes, they go to the Pictures folder. I believe I have said before, the only thing different I have done was Copy this Folder to my Time Machine. Now with that said, there is also a folder named STEVESS that also contains a folder called STEVESS -> Pictures, I'm not even sure how this folder got created. I'm not sure if any of this info is helpful or not, but at this point not sure what else to give you..
Again thanks for your assistance. If we can't figure this out, I'll manage.

Mar 15, 2015 8:31 AM in response to Stevess579by notcloudy,You may be in the Twilight zone of process change with no heads up or documentation on it.
You are on Yosemite and all you devices are on IOS 8 and you have ICLOUD then the pictures in IPHOTO or PHOTO should be synchronizing through ICLOUD -- Yosemite was the last piece of the puzzle to get this to be automatic.
If you have a digital camera - then you would import those to IPHOTO or a folder on your drive (and I hope in that case the delete off device would work), otherwise it should come through the ICLOUD.
Apple support may be able to help you untangle the duplicates.

Mar 15, 2015 9:05 AM in response to notcloudyby Stevess579,Thanks Notcloudy, I bummed when I purchased the PhotoSweeper software they finds the duplicates and then offers to delete them for you. Then only to realize that this had the potential of deleting the only "Good" copy of the photo. I think it was Larry that mentioned that a lot of these could be thumbnails, well he is correct, because when I open most of the photos they open VERY small, as a thumbnail would. I think I'm going to poke around with this, see if there is a way to separate opening only thumbnails vs. full photos.
Just quick on another subject, as you can see in my print screens, I am still having issues with multiple shared systems being listed, I though Apple had corrected this problem? Anybody else experiencing this?

Mar 15, 2015 6:31 PM in response to Stevess579by notcloudy,Another thread mentioned that you could setup the Icloud to only sync I think thumbnails to your phone -- so that may be what you are importing when pulling thumbnails from the phone to desktop.
Wonder if the delete on import actually just removes the picture leaving the thumbnail on the phone.
