Q: iMessage Constantly Asking for iCloud Password - Mavericks

Hi, I've been having issues for quite some time now with my iMessage on my MacBook 2010.  I started having issues with Mountain Lion where I was unable to sign in.  After updating to Mavericks upon release I ran into issues where iMessage constantly asks me for my iCloud password.  I honestly just quit using the program because it was so frustrating.  I've decided to give it another shot and have scoured these fourms.  I have deleted all associated passwords in Keychain Access, checked my Disk Utility for any repairs that might be necessary, signed out of my iMessage account in the program and signed back in only find that my phone number is no longer associated with iMessages on my MacBook.  I'm very frustrated that a core component of the OS simply won't work and I've tried everything that I can find on the support community forums.  If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

In the Keychain Access App (Applications/Utilities) use the Keychain Access Menu itself and chose the First Aid option.

Make sure the check box to Synchronise the Login ID with the login Keychain  is ticked  - then Logging in to the computer will allow use of the Keychain.

    HI there Ralph,

thanks for the reply but no errors were found when I performed the Keychain First Aid. I also do no know where to find the " the check box to Synchronise the Login ID".  I restarted my computer and I entered my Apple ID as I do when I log in as myself, then immediately a pop up box appears requesting my iCloud password. I enter it then it appears again and I do it again then that's it.  I still see that my iMessages app is "offline" and I have to go into iMessages/preferences/and activate iMessages by entering my apple id. Once I have activated the account, if I want to see Details of this account, I again am asked to enter my ID password.  Another box pops up and I can see my user name, then bullets representing my password x2 is there but I know this is not the correct password as it is too short.  The only way that I can up date it is if I select Manage ID and that would mean my password across the board would be changed again and I don't want to go through that just to fix this. There must be something else going on behind the scenes.  Any thoughts?  I would take snap shots of my screen but don't know how to do this on my computer.

    Hi,

That was me, sorry for the confusion.

It is Preferences > First Aid Tab...

If the only account in the Messages App that is supposed to be active is the iMessages one then the Status item in the Message Menu means nothing.

This only refers to Accounts that have Buddy Lists (and therefore a Status according to the Servers they connect to, the exception being the Bonjour account)

An Apple ID can be an iCloud ID.

Obviously the password is the same.

Is this the Apple ID you use for iCloud ?

If it is try turning Off the iCloud Keychain for now in the System Preferences > iCloud.
