I too have the problem Just the Apple logo and no response to the remote. I hooked the Apple TV to my computer and wasted 6 hours downloading the "Restore" software only to end up with the same fast blinking light and the Apple logo again.

Same here--I get an intermittent Apple logo. I went through all the steps in the Setup Guide (none of them worked) before attempting a restore through iTunes. I connected the Apple TV to my MacBook Pro per instructions and attempted to "...select Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore." HaHa. What Source list? Apple TV isn't a selection in any iTunes list or menu.

MMe too. Someone said I should get Netflix through blue ray but I said nooooo il use Apple tv, I have an I phone 6 so I'll keep it all in the family. Well the **** I phone sometimes tells me I don't have a SIM card installed and now they want to charge me for support on this **** TV but they don't say how much it will cost. Power corrupts and absolute power currupts absolutely.

As an addendum to my previous response, I'd add that no Apple TV icon shows up on the right side of the "..." on the iTunes menu bar, nor does any popup automatically display prompting me to restore anything. Unless l've missed something, I figure my 3-week old Apple TV is toast or the micro USB cord I'm using,  inconveniently not supplied with the Apple TV, is faulty.

My take-away from this experience is that if one wants to cut the outrageously expensive Comcast TV cord without the frustration of buying more cords and enduring apparently long-winded software/firmware updates, then one will need to do it with a Roku. I haven't had any trouble with the one in my living room. I'll replace the Apple TV in the bedroom with another Roku and be done with it.

I am experiencing the same thing. My Apple TV starting blinking last night. I tried to turn it on and nothing. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and basically it was frozen. Was there an upgrade that crapped out all the Apple TV's?

Mine was doing this last night for 15 minutes. I kept rebooting and each time the screen just went black. I gave up and surfed channels for awhile, went back to the AppleTV and it was OK.

    hey there Lois Critch,

It sounds like you are not able to use your Apple TV despite restarting it in a couple of ways and the light just seems to blink at you. I would next use iTunes on your computer to restore it. This does require a micro USB cable but verify you have done all the troubleshooting from the following article:

Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Take care,

    Sterling

I purchased the Micro USB cable, waited 6 hours for the download to restore my Apple TV, and it still blinks and only displays the white Apple logo. Now what?

Experiencing the same as many in this thread. Cannot update Apple TV 3rd Gen from TV, so connected to MacBook Pro.  No Apple TV icon shows up on the right side of the iTunes menu bar or through "Apple TV" search. 6 attempts. Power unplug. Plug back in.

Apple initiated a software update over the week end...for whatever reason software didn't download for all of us...thereby causing the problem.

PRobably the best solution for many of us is to take your Apple TV to your nearest Apple store and have them download for you.
