Jan 23, 2015 3:30 PM in response to smevansby MISakaGOD,so after updating to iOS 8.1.2 my rear camera stopped working after a few days. backed it up and restored it to factory both from the phone and through iTunes but no luck. brought it to Apple and they said it was a hardware issue and that the camera couldn't be replaced so i would have to buy a new phone if i wanted a working camera. i said the camera was working perfectly before the update and the reply was 'well the camera was probably having some issues before and with the new update that brought it to the forefront'. Um so doesn't that sound like a software issue??? why should i have to pay for a replacement when your update caused the problem? so disappointed in Apple, if i have to buy a new phone i'll switch to Android because of this. Apple seems to be slowly dying since Steve Jobs passed...
anyone have any further suggestions to try and fix this or just scrap it?

Jan 30, 2015 2:43 PM in response to MISakaGODby wac20,I also have an iPhone 5c without a back camera. No problem, then all of a sudden its stops working.
Been in touch with Apple, very helpful, but could not sort it out and recommended to speak to the company i bought it from as I am 51 days outside warranty but speak to them, CONSUMER LAW will cover it for 2 years.
No joy from the mobile phone company, so called Apple back and they have said, 'the CONSUMER LAW will only come into effect once the iPhone is 2 years old (December 2013)'. My choices
- reset the iPhone to original settings - did not work
- update to newest iOS - did not work.
- turn it off and on again - did not work.
- Pay £200+ for a Apple recycled one, plus you get 90 days warranty - can not afford that.
If any one has any ideas, please let me know.

Apr 11, 2015 1:58 AM in response to talatozoralby Alison4444,I had the same problem for months and months and after reading all these posts about the camera not working, and Apple doing nothing about it, I decided to make an appointment with an Apple Genius. I took the phone in, and the Genius came to meet me. He obviously knew I was having a problem with the camera as I'd had to state it before making the appointment. He looked at my phone for approx 10 seconds and asked me to wait for a few minutes. He came back, gave me a brand new phone and I just stared at him. My phone was 1 1/2 years old. Obviously some people have taken their phones in and had no success. Maybe I was lucky.....

So now i am facing this problem again and I'm so frustrated.
I couldn't believe this but the light tapping against your palm really works!

Jun 13, 2015 3:54 PM in response to talatozoralby Lucas AC,have the same problem, and no genius nor apple stores nearby my city (I live in Brazil) to take my phone to.. Being an Apple user since 2005, I'm very disappointed that no one at the company states anything about this problem, or even read this thread... Tried to see the branched "new discussion", it says I'm not authorized to see this new thread, so I guess I'll have to take this matter elsewhere.
