Just wanted to chime in that I have had these same issues as well. Additionally, I have even trouble accessing my iCloud mail through the website now.
But I only tried that step after I kept getting a lot of the gmail forwards bouncing back to me.

Mar 16, 2015 5:57 PM in response to aixen21by Simonp007,I Just called apple support and they sent it to engineering. Tech said that apparently messages from other mail services are also delayed. I did some tests from yahoo mail and that works fine. Anyways they are definitely looking into it and I'm supposed to get an update tomorrow.

Mar 16, 2015 9:03 PM in response to xaipeteby zinacef,Yes Pam, this evening I can confirm that the notification emails from these forums were being forwarded successfully however other emails are being backed up in Gmail and not being pushed through at all. You were correct!
