Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
The Photos app will not show you the actual file name of the photo. However when you go through the image import process on your computer, you should be able to see both the thumbnail of the photo, as well as the filename of the image.
Take care,
Alex H.

Mar 18, 2015 12:37 AM in response to alex_h1by yamacutta,Thanks Alex. Just to explain, I have taken a number of very similar photos to choose the best shot for a brochure and sent several to my editor in low res to choose the best. He is able to identify the one of his choice by image number for me to re-send in high res, so it's a bit tedious to have to import them all to PC in able to select the correct one! Hopefully future versions of Photo app will allow access to the file properties including file #. Thanks again for your input.

Mar 18, 2015 1:47 AM in response to yamacuttaby King_Penguin,★HelpfulThere are third-party photo apps that let you see an image's properties and filenames e.g. PhotoMeta, and ImageMeta (which is free, though it has adverts in it if your iPad is online) - they should be able to view the photos that you have in the Photos app.
For the Photos app itself, you could try leaving feedback for Apple : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
