Mar 18, 2015 5:22 AM in response to charalesby Russ H,Possibly a bad render. Can you open the library without the project opening automatically? If you can, select the project in the Browser, Then, turn off BG Rendering in Preferences and delete all the render files (File> Delete Generated Render Files.

Mar 18, 2015 11:44 AM in response to Russ Hby charales,I can't see the project in the browser but it's in the disk. I try to foo FCPX by creating a new project and exiting the program. Then in Finder I rename the new project and name the "invisible" one as the one I had juet created. Then I opend FCPX and the new project i created before was gone.
I also tried to oen the project straight from the Finder and it launches FCPX, but then it hangs and disappears.

Just want to verify that you are using FCPX10.1 or later.
If that is correct and you went inside the library bundle to make changes, it is a risky maneuver.
My render advice assumed an intact library.
Try opening a backup library.

Mar 18, 2015 3:15 PM in response to charalesby fox_m,I searched my effects for "Stylize" and don't have it — so it is a third party effect. With FCPX closed, remove the effect from
/Users/YourUserFolder/Movies/Motion Templates/Effects/WhateverCategory it's placed in (you can place it anywhere else like the desktop, temporarily). Restart FCPX. Find the clips that have the effect applied, and remove the effect from the clip (select the Stylize pane label in the Video inspector and type the delete key.) [PS - if the effect was added via FXFactory, launch FXFactory and turn the effect off.]
Once you've removed the effect from your clip(s) you can add it back into your effects folder if you choose. (The clips should be easy to find since they'll either be a yellow alert or red missing clip markers in the storyline.)
If the effect uses a font, try to remember the font you used and validate it in Font Book. If you don't remember, Validate all your fonts. Corrupt fonts really do a number on many Mac applications (especially FCPX and Motion).
If there isn't a font involved, I would rethink adding the effect back into FCPX. Contact the effect maker and see if you can find a resolution to your problem.
