Mar 19, 2015 5:26 AM in response to waynejjjjjby dwb,On the menubar you should see a battery icon. Click on it. If the drop down menu says "Service Battery" you may have a bad battery. Sometimes after an OS update or upgrade this message will appear and doing a System Management Control reset resolves this. If doing an SMC reset doesn't resolve it you'll need to reset the battery.
Also if you select the Apple menu (far left corner of the menubar), select About this Mac, and click on the System Report button you'll get a dialog which shows a lot of information about your computer. Look in the left column for Power. Look for the words "Health Information" about 15 lines down and under that heading you'll see the batteries' condition and number of cycles. Apple says the unibody Macs should be good for 1000 cycles and still retain 80% of the battery's health.
