Jan 31, 2015 9:48 AM in response to AppMan44by Drew Harper,I've been through a LONG research period on just this subject. I run a sailing school and most of the iPad POS market seems tailored around the food service industry. Having looked at virtually everyone, we are going with SalesVu. They have some GREAT integrated ad-ons for small business. Social/Email Marketing; Quickbooks online sync; CRM; Gift Cards. They also have a solid relationship with Mercury Merchant processing and it looks like that will save us quite a bit of money in discount fees over the year.
Had a couple of bumps in getting set up as is always the case with something that is so imbedded into your business but I seem to be on track now.
One thing, I have 20,000 customers in my client list and it uploaded (with help from SaleVu staff) great into the system. Nice to have access and CRM right on the iPad.
They have a relationship with http://mposgear.com and I plan on buying the Windfall system. Seems well done and simple. http://mposgear.com/detail.php?product=363&category_id=9
Buying the Star thermal printer, assuming the software will allow me to print a customer copy. http://mposgear.com/detail.php?product=2&category_id=2
I'll report back on how this all goes.

Mar 3, 2015 2:29 PM in response to AppMan44by dmiles1983,Hello!
I work for Lavu iPad POS.
We are the longest running iPad Point of Sale on the Apple App Store. We offer software that works on iOS devices, including iPads, iPhones, and iPod Touches.
For the hardware, we have partnered with very reputable partners. We have a lot of options that you can use to customize your point of sale; APG cash drawers, VaultEnclosures, and Credit Card processors.
Please contact Lavu Sales for more information. If you'd like to talk with me personally, please ask for Miles.
Thank you! I hope this helps.

Mar 21, 2015 12:08 AM in response to AppMan44by michaelfromhomestead,There are tons of solutions in the market, I would suggest picking a platform with the most flexibility, that has an SDK in case you wish to build your very own app to run on the platform and that also offers mounts and stands that are standardized like the well known VESA standard.
The Sparta Kiosk Pro is used widely at many retail and restaurants world-wide and a great quality product to match the iPad.
Take a look at this ipad enclosure with built-in reader and SDK:

Jul 21, 2015 6:44 AM in response to AppMan44by 01229250,There are some great solutions available out there at the moment, that really let you maximise time efficiencies through linking in all your accounting packages, stock controls.
Software
I would suggest looking at Revel, Vend, there are many more.
Hardware
THere are a number of types of stands the Heckler Windfall is a good one, also spacepole do some good ones, I buy most of my hardware from the guys at POS Today. They are always helpful and there is a range of varying price point harware, from printers, to cashdrawers.
Let me know if you want anymore info
Thanks
Adam

Jul 31, 2016 4:00 PM in response to AppMan44by feemelvis,Lavu is a great iPad pos solution. The best way I found to buy a pos system was to compare multiple systems and have dealers compete for my business. I used Point of Sale USA and went with Lavu. Very happy with my purchase.

Aug 1, 2016 10:35 AM in response to feemelvisby celliott147,This thread hasn't been active in over a year, please don't bring it back to life without new information. That said, I personally prefer either Shopkeep or Lightspeed Retail (I've tested 75+ systems in the last 2 years).
