Q: iphone only sending 10 second voice messages in apps?

Hello,

I have tried searching the internet of course; but only turned up a bunch of people having the same problem as me but no solution.

I have an iphone 5s and for some reason when I use any App that allows me to send voice messages it stops recording and sends it at 10 seconds.

This happens for Whatsapp, Telegram, Wechat, etc...

Anyone know why its only allowing me to send 10 second messages? This is not a problem on my iPhone 5 and has never been before until recently.

Any suggestions or help from someone who fixed this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1.2, Whatsapp

I have a glass cover and this problem.  Moving my finger continuously instead of keeping it still solved the problem.  Thanks contributors.

I have the same problem. You guys are correct, I think its about the glass protector. I moved my thumb around slightly while using WhatsApp and it worked longer than 9 secs. Annoying and tiring for the thumb but at least its working.

Thank you Naj-Boogie!  Your fix contribution worked like a charm this morning!  I have only had a glass protector for two weeks (after the lesson of paying $85.00 to replace the broken glass from dropping my phone ).

I did not correlate the sudden inability to send a WhatsApp voicemail message longer than 9 seconds with the glass screen protector!

My thumb massage on the microphone as you described worked! Thank you very much to the original problem solver! You're a hero!

The solution to the 9 second problem. (1)Hold down on the record mic. (2)As you are recording, slide the mic slightly left to the middle and it will record as long as you want. (3)Too far to the left will delete the message and trash it....

Great!!!!

    Gracias !!!!!

    Dear Readers,

There's no Issues with any GLASS PROTECTOR or the SCREEN, i can say its just the iOs, anyways lemme come on the solution,

While recording the message just slide the finger a little to the left, not more that will cancel the message, but just till the half

and enjoy recording as long as you want.

I have the same problem.  Voice typing works fine on Messages, and Facebook Messenger, but it stops after only a few seconds with Whatsapp.  However, this has nothing to do with screen protectors, because the problem started only a few weeks ago, and my iPhone is exactly the same.  I wonder if it may have to do with iOS 8.2, which appeared about at the same time as this problem started.

I've had the same problem since installing iOS 8.2. Voice texts go only 3-5 sec max. Moving my finger around the screen doesn't help. Regarding arishjoshila's suggestion, I can't hold down the mic button (bottom, to the left of space bar); it won't start voice without releasing it. No screen protector. Hard reboot didn't work. Help please.

If you've got a screen protector on, try removing it and it should work.

Rebooting certainly doesn't  work in my case. I shut the phone off every night, to no avail.

Reboot did not help, and I don't have a screen protector (can't imagine what difference that would make anyway)
