Q: Conflicting reports of a bad memory module. How do I confirm it?

My MacPro System Profile indicates One memory module (4x16 GB) has "errors". (Displays a yellow triangle with an exclamation point) But I've run Apple Hardware Diagonstics twice and it reports "no issues". I rebuilt the system directory with DiskWarrior and ran the hardware test again with the same no issue report, so I do not believe it is a system software issue. But the System Profile window still shows the first 16 GB RAM module has "errors". Is the RAM module bad or not? How can I confirm to find out? It's a relatively new MacPro almost a year old still under warranty. I bought the RAM from OWC which has a lifetime warranty.

I would suggest visiting an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider if your computer is still under warranty. They'll be able to run more thorough tests on the memory modules (Apple Service Diagnostics). As an alternative solution, check out Techtool Pro.

Contact OWC to see what they say.

Don't take it to the Apple Store with OWC RAM installed. It is liable to void the warranty. Reinstall the original RAM.

Yes. I called OWC tech support this morning and they were very helpful - explained exactly how to test the memory modules with a free third party app I downloaded, 'Remby.' It takes a very long time to go through the entire memory testing process, which I am still in the middle of. But if a module is flawed OWC has a lifetime warranty and will replace it. TBD. OWC tech support is excellent.
