Q: Does serial number on magsafe charger correlate with the number on the extension cord the charger came with?

Those parts generally have random non-matching numbers, since

not every charger was equipped with the long extension wire set.

If you had an invoice from the purchase of the MagSafe adapter

there may be some other way to identify it in addition to model #

or specification listed on the item. In my opinion, that probably

would not be enough information to identify your adapter from

any probable use of the extension wire by itself. For my Mac

gear, I have 3 or 4 spare long cords just like that one, and they

do not appear to have an identifier for the end product, on any.

The extension cable is also used for AirPort Express and many

Apple portable computer power adapters, even PowerBook &

iBook, use the same cord on the AC input side of adapters.

You may inquire of a retail Apple Store, and ask what MagSafe

adapter would match the number you see on the cord, however

that probably would not be a serial number for a MagSafe, also.

So basically I'm saying, even though the wire may matchup with

use with a MagSafe adapter, the numbers on it may not match

a serial number on the adapter itself. In some instances the wire

involved is supplied by a different maker than the adaper.

Depending on where you are located, a replacement MagSafe

adapter may be available at less than full retail, for authentic part.

Be sure to match the power specs, model version, display type to

the replacement adapter; you can get a higher output adapter to

work in place of a lower power one, but not the other way around.

The retail Apple Store sales specialist could probably tell you if the

identifier numbers on the cable you have might have serial number

implications, to match an specific adapter stolen from you. I doubt it.
