Q: airport express on comcast wifi network

I have a comcast modem, time machine, and a few airport expresses. I want to cut out the time machine and run the airport expresses off the comcast

wifi network so I don't need to switch networks to do airplay to various devices. also planning to buy an apple tv to do the same.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), Logic X, NI Komplete,NI Kontrol 49

assume you have a comcast modem not router. Use the TM router, create a local network. You don't have to switch networks just configure your network. If your Comcast modem is a router also then place the TM router in bridge mode and create a wireless network. You may have two wireless networks, just point your Macs, ATV3 to your specified wireless network.

To configure your AirPort Express base stations for AirPlay please check out the following Apple Support article.

OK, was confused - I have an older style Airport express - which was why I was confused by the links - they all looked liked a different device - which they

are, apparently - My airport expresses were set up to connect to wifi via my time machine (they still are), but I want to take the time machine out of the wifi loop,

and have them connect to my comcast modem, so all my wifi devices - mac, iPads, iPhones, expresses, printer, etc. are all on the same network and

I don't have to switch to do particular things - how can I set up these older airport expresses to connect to the comcast modem wifi network instead of the time machine wifi network? I'm on yosemite, but I do have access to some older laptops with mountain lion and snow leopard.  I've heard Yosemite is a problem

    with these older expresses.

By "older," I am assuming that you have 802.11g AirPort Express base stations. These would be model# A1084 ... and not the 1st gen 802.11n models, which look identical. The 802.11n are model# A1264.

If you have the former then you will need to use either a Snow Leopard or earlier Mac, or a Windows 7 or earlier PC to administer it. The method to have these base station join your Comcast modem's Wi-Fi network is the same as to any Wi-Fi network. The article I referred you to earlier should cover this.
