Q: How do I get iCloude off my back!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a new iPhone 6+, which I connected it to my PC in order to install the content of my old iPhone 4. The result was that my new iPhone's memory is 'blocked' by somthing calld 'other' which I can't delete, and it prevents installing my apps, or add anything to the device as the half of the memory is filled with 'other'.

So I decided to restore my iPhone to factory state, but I'm not able to do so, because of iCloud.

At the same time I updated my Apple ID and got verification for the update by App Store, iTunes and iCloud.

BUT. iCloud refuses to let go!!!!  Even though it verified the update, as mentioned above, still traces of the old ID are left, and all the time a popup dialog box, showing my old ID, request to put in the password, but the old ID doesn't function any more so the password doesn't work.

Please someone help me get rid of iCloud so that I can restore my iPhone and start using it.

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.

This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.

However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.

The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.

You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried to create an ID with, same as the one iCloud refers to, but I get the anouncment: "This email address is not available for use as an Apple ID. You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID".

I also tried to add that ID to the existing Apple ID but I got: Email address is already verified for another Apple ID.

Then that ID is locked and you need to unlock it.

When your account becomes disabled, Apple provides the following recommendation:

"This message means that someone tried and failed to sign in to your account multiple times. The Apple ID system disables the account to prevent unauthorized people from gaining access to your information. You need to reset your password, following the instructions at the Apple ID website".

Visit iForgot.com and follow the instructions there.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through iTunes Store Support

For obvious reasons you cannot create an Apple ID that has already been created. Whether it's already yours or in use as someone else's Apple ID is not relevant.

You may already have an Apple ID associated with this address.

Consider that possibility. Go to Apple's website here: https://appleid.apple.com/. Click the blue Manage your Apple ID button and write back with the progress you are able to make from there. If you can achieve no progress, describe the reasons. Please copy and paste the exact text of any explanation that may appear (omit or obscure any personal information please).

Another possibility is that your Apple ID credentials have been stolen through a phishing scam or other exploit. If that's the case it will become obvious upon attempting to "Manage your Apple ID".

Do you meen that when I go to Manage your Apple ID I should enter my old ID? - when I do it it lets me do the whole process and at the end i'm told an eMail will be sent, but no mail is recieved.

If i write the new ID I get to a window where it says my ID is verified.

So I can't delete the old one and the new one is verified.

Enter the Apple ID you need to manage - presumably, the same one being used by your iPhone.

On that page, there will be various email addresses Apple can use to contact you. Make sure they're all correct.

If the Apple ID you wish to manage is no longer an email address you can use, write back so we can address that uncertainty first.

When I press Manage your Apple ID I get to the window My Apple ID and is requred to Sign In. My new ID already apears in the ID slot and when I write the password, I get to the next window: Manage your Name, ID and Email Addresses. Only my new ID apears here under: Apple ID and Primery Email Address.

At the bottom there is an option to add an Email address, and today I tried to ad my old address but it doesn't allow me.

I understand the Apple ID you use to sign in to https://appleid.apple.com/ and the Apple ID that appears under Apple ID and Primary Email Address are identical. I also understand that is the same Apple ID you're using for your iPhone. If any if that is not correct please let me know.

Next, attempting to add your old email address to that Apple ID is not working for one of two reasons:

    1. That email address is already in use as an Apple ID.
      • You cannot change that, ever. This means you have at least two Apple IDs, and you must decide which one you like more. Use that one and forget about the others.
      • The best you can do is to change that existing Apple ID to another one. However, you cannot change it to an Apple ID that's already in use, even if it's your own.
    2. Or, that Apple ID is already associated with another Apple ID:
      • By "associated with" what I mean is that there is another Apple ID using that email address as an "Alternate email address", "Alternate Apple ID", or "Notification email address".
      • To fix that, Delete that email address from the list. As far as I know though, an "Alternate Apple ID" cannot be deleted.

For purposes of this discussion an Apple ID is synonymous with an iCloud ID.

Back to your original problem: On your iPhone sign out of the Apple ID you no longer wish to use. Use the old password associated with it, if you remember it. If you unable to do that, explain where you're getting stuck.

I realize this can be very confusing. It would be easier if I could be there with you seeing the same thing you're seeing, but we're limited to this sort of discussion so please write back with any explanation that may help resolve the problem. If any of the above doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try to explain.

Take a screenshot if you think it will help:

    Screenshots (Mac):

To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot named "Screen Shot...." followed by a date and time on your Desktop.

When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:

    ccc1d9a6bbfa2bcd11f062bbf381272e.png

This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button. If you are not using full screen mode you can simply drag the image into the text entry field.

⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.

⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.

Don't capture or upload any information you consider personal. To edit an existing screenshot, read How to edit a screenshot.

Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

I'll go trough you mesage and refer to all you mentioned:

    a) "I understand the Apple ID you use to sign in to https://appleid.apple.com/ and the Apple ID that appears under Apple ID and Primary Email Address are identical. I also understand that is the same Apple ID you're using for your iPhone. If any if that is not correct please let me know." - Yes. Both ID's are identical, and this is the same ID i'm using on my iPhone. The reason I chnged ID is that I swithed to another internet supplier and the old eMail address included the name of the supplier. now i use a Gmail address.

    b) I suppose the old uddress is not accepted because, as you mentioned it will always be recognized by the system as an ID already used. The first option you mentioned is the one. The second option implies someone else is using my old ID, but that isn't the case- it was used only by me until last week.

    c) "On your iPhone sign out of the Apple ID you no longer wish to use.... " - I tried to use the password I had for that ID, and I tried all passwords I use, just in case. but nothing works I always get an unswerthe password is incorect. i'm stuck at the point I put the password.

I'll take any screenshot that you'll tell me you need.

Thanks. First try to retrieve your ability to log in to https://appleid.apple.com/ using the Apple ID no longer useful to you.

To do that go to https://iforgot.apple.com/ and enter that Apple ID - not the one whose password you know. It will ask you questions based on information you provided when you created that Apple ID. Answer what you can. If it finds those answers acceptable, it will reply that password reset instructions have been sent to an email address. Note that it will always give that reply, whether or not a viable email address exists. If it goes to an email address you can still use, open that email, follow its instructions to reset that Apple ID password, and then write back here for further guidance.

Only after exhausting that possibility are you going to have to restore your iPhone as a new iPhone, and configure it again. To do that read How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups - Apple Support. Be sure to heed its admonition to "back up your data before your [sic] erase your device".

Let me know if you make any progress. If you get stuck somewhere, explain.

Sorry to jump in in the middle of this, but I'm reading that you changed your Apple ID to a new email address, but the old Apple ID email address is still signed onto iCloud. If that is the case you need to do the following:

    1.     Go to Manage your Apple ID and sign on with your current (new) Apple ID and your current password

    2.     EDIT the Apple ID back to your old email address. This is temporary. Do NOT verify it, do NOT change the password

    3.     Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and sign out of the iCloud account. When asked for a password, type in your current Apple ID password

    4.     Go back to Manage your Apple ID and sign in with the old email address and the current password. EDIT the Apple ID back to the new email address. You may have to verify it again

    5.     Go back to iCloud.com and sign in with your current Apple ID

Again, don't know if you had already tried this, but thought I'd put it out there in case you hadn't.

    Cheers,
