Q: iCloud.com Photos stuck "Preparing your library…" for more than two weeks!

Hi,

iCloud Photos work well on my iPad, iPhone and OS X, but the web-based version of Photos has been stuck "Preparing your library…" for more than two weeks. I have more than 75GB of pictures in my account, including some raw files. How can I get it to work?

Thank you,

Max

It would be nice to get an answer from Apple. Many many users have this issue.

All my iOS devices are fine with icloud photos of about 7000 photos & videos. Both my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 iCloud Photos have been stuck on

"Preparing your library ..." for at least the last week. Hours and hours of attended waiting and no different results.....Help Needed...it was working before, with the exception of a weekend of down-time a few weeks before.....

Found out any solution yet?  Everything works fine on the iPhone and iPad.  However, I am also stucked on the Preparing your library for weeks.  I don't know how much photos or videos I have but they are about 15GB in size.

I am so afraid losing everything.  I have empty out enough space on my iPad and downloaded everything back to the device just in case I have to delete everything in the cloud.

The Apple support team wanted me to upload everything to a new dummy account to see if they can recreate the problem on a fresh account.  I explained that I'm too stretched for time at the moment.  Hopefully someone else will test it for them so this issue can be resolved!

I had the same request and it didn't alleviate any issues. My phone didn't upload any pics to the test account.

I am experiencing this problem with two different Apple IDs. I have seen it when logged into icloud.com using three different Macs, a Windows PC, and multiple browsers. Apple Support opened a case for me on March 28, saying it would be escalated to engineering.

It's a miracle! After waiting for a week, I can finally access my photos.

It still took a few minutes today, but suddenly my pictures appeared.

I have given up on this feature.  It was so slow accessing my photo album with mine and my wife's iPhones.  Every time I tried to access photos for a iMessage or even the album it would take 7-10 seconds.  I used iMazing to back up my apps only and wiped the phone and set it up as a new iPhone.  Then restored apps and messages with iMazing.  It was successful for my phone as I retained all my text messages, however it didn't load all of my apps.  My wife's phone was less successful.  It only reloaded all the apps, but there was an error on saving the text history.  We both are elated that we are no longer bogged down by iCloud Photo Beta.  It is still "Preparing your library".  iCloud Photo Beta was a serious battery hog in my opinion.

The photo libraries for my two Apple IDs also finally showed up today using the iCloud.com Photos app. I did not hear back from Apple on this, so I don't know have any explanation for the delay, and I don't know whether it might happen again if I add a bunch of new photos.

Works now, like "magic". Guess they've finally fixed it.

Successfully uploaded 100 photos via iCloud.com a few hours ago. They showed up on my iPhone and the iCloud.com Photos app still works hours later.

It's encouraging to read that some have finally had some success. I too have use of my photos on my iOS devices, and in OS X 10.10.3 Photos, but no luck on browsers.  After an initial download to my iPhone 6 got about 70% of my thumbnails, I had to walk through the rest one by one to start their downloads (stopping for a second on each one).

It took two weeks to upload my 250gb 30,000 pic Aperture library to Apple's servers.  I don't think Comcast was pleased to see me use nearly a terabyte of bandwidth in March.  Perhaps Apple could offer a way to break up larger libraries for upload.

Also, I lost my Faces from Aperture.  That will take MONTHS to replace.
