Apr 8, 2014 8:05 PM in response to Tom Geweckeby ladislaver,Tom, so you implying that the 8% out of all operating systems in the world Apple OS users are on the mark and 90% of MS OS users are idiots? I just like to see Apple making my life easier; they are the ones who published iTunes for MS OS; but for some unknown reason to me, they limit its use. Take for example WeChat app; it is available for all platforms.

Not at all. Apple should definitely make an iBooks app for Windows. But not running OS X and the iBooks app it comes with on your iMac is your personal problem, nobody elses.

May 19, 2014 3:51 AM in response to _PK_by Bright Zheng,Hey _PK_,
Check out Adobe Digital Edition 3.0. It is an epub reader, and it is free.

May 19, 2014 4:14 AM in response to Bright Zhengby King_Penguin,That won't let you read the majority of ibooks from Apple, most have digital-rights-management on them which tie them to the iBooks apps - you will potentially be able to read free ibooks and those from publishers who don't include DRM on their ibooks, but it won't let you read most paid-for ibooks.

Such apps cannot open books from the iBookstore with DRM, which includes most paid for books. Or any books in the .ibooks format even if they do not have DRM.

Sep 1, 2014 11:28 AM in response to _PK_by BarryWalraven,I have purchased for free "Honors Chemistry: Matter - Properties and Changes" by Sylvia E. Maffucci from my iTunes from my PC and I am unable to view or even read this book from my iPhone 5s's iBook app. I get a messages that says that I have to open it from my iBook app on iPad or Mac, but for some reason its not viewable from my iBook app on my iPhone. I only own an iPhone and do not own an iPad or Macintosh computer system. Am I really expected to purchase a brand new iPad or iMac computer system just to read a text book? Why can't I view this book from my iBook app installed on my iPhone? Its these kinds of problems that just make me not like Apple. I can't wait to get a Windows phone and completely do away with anything trademarked by Apple. Nothing works!!!

Text books produced with the iBooks Author app can only be read on an iPad or a Mac running OS 10.9. It tells you this in the Requirements section of the purchase page, so that you can avoid downloading things you cannot actually use. To ask Apple to make such books available on an iPhone, use

Unfortunately that will not work with any book from the iBookstore which has DRM, which is almost all paid books.

That's great that all your books were epub format and happen to be from publishers that do not use DRM!
But many books in the iBookstore are multi-touch interactive books in the .ibooks format, which cannot be opened with Firefox. And most best seller .epub books are from major publishers which do use DRM. In that case you will get this message from Firefox:
To avoid possibly paying for something they cannot use, people who want to read .epub books from the best seller lists on a PC should buy them from another bookstore, like Amazon, Nook, Kobo, Google, Sony. (Books in the .ibooks format can only be read on an Mac or an iPad.)
