Q: iPhoto - shared PhotoStream folder - folder is empty, yet my other devices display pictures/videos

Hi

I launch iPhoto, navigate to 'Web' then 'PhotoStream' folder, the folder is present but it is empty (showing '0'), yet my other devices pictures/videos are displayed.

Please would you confirm what I need to do to get this synced up again?  I think it relates to iCloud but not completely sure what to do.  I rebooted the MAC but this did not help.

Thank you.

MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), null

I don't understand why all of a sudden I'm no longer able to view streams in my Mac - is it because the person sending it has upgraded their systems.  As far as I'm aware they are just sending it from their iPhone

Apple is not very clear, about what will work on older systems or not.  You can view some streams, but not the photos shared by subscribers to a stream, because that feature has been introduced by Mavericks.

    See this link:

iCloud Photo Sharing FAQ - Apple Support

If you're using earlier versions of iOS, iCloud Control Panel, iPhoto, or Aperture, you can still create and view shared albums.

Which means, you can view the shared albums you create with your version of the software.

I'm having a problem finding the Profile signature, can you please let me know where it is located?

Sure, it is really good hidden.

Click your user name besides the avatar. It is link to your profile page.

On this page click again your user name to the right of the avatar, where it says "Welcome newMacUser.."

This will reveal a panel to change your personal settings:

Here you can change anything, but the products in your profile signature.

To change the list of your MacOS X and details about your hardware, start to make a new post:

At the top of the discussion page click "New" and select "Discussion":

You are not actually going to post a new question, you just need to access the link at the bottom of the page "Add or edit my products", directly above the "Post" button. Use this link to edit your products, then cancel the new question.

Thank you but I'm not technical so please see my comments below (bold and underlined) and please clarify for a non-technical person.

    1.  Apple is not very clear, about what will work on older systems or not.  You can view some streams, but not the photos shared by subscribers to a stream, because that feature has been introduced by Mavericks.

The person would have used their iPhone to create the share, so this is not Mavericks.

    2.  If you're using earlier versions of iOS, iCloud Control Panel, iPhoto, or Aperture, you can still create and view shared albums.

I'm using iPhoto 11 - I already know that I, myself, can create and view shared albums, but for the recent shared albums, this is not possible.  That is the problem I want to view these recent shared albums

    3.  Click your user name besides the avatar. It is link to your profile page.

On this page click again your user name to the right of the avatar, where it says "Welcome newMacUser.."

There is nothing that says 'Welcome newMacUser' in the location above.  Where is this title located?  Your earlier post told stated:  "Is you profile signature still correct?  "MacBook Pro (15-inch 2.53 GHz), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), null"?

This is the only reason why I asked where to look because I thought you told me to look here so that I can check and fix if necessary.  Please advise?

    4.  To change the list of your MacOS X and details about your hardware, start to make a new post:

Please clarify why you have advised this - my details are correct and always have been - this is not my problem I am having, as my problem was trying to fix being able to see shared photos

Thank you in advance again for your assistance

    Kind regards
