Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would need clarification on what exact issue you are experiencing with iCloud to provide a better answer. However, it sounds like you are attempting to get your devices to work with iCloud. To get data to transfer from one device to another using iCloud, make sure all device are using the same Apple ID via the steps in the article below.
Sign in to iCloud, iTunes, and other Apple services on your devices

Apr 7, 2015 10:58 AM in response to jason269by davie27,I did check that the ID on all devices was consistent but for some reason I cannot transfer the contacts on my IPhone 5S to my IMac even though it is aware of the ICloud ID on both devices.

Thank you for the follow-up. I would recommend checking to see if there are any other type of iCloud syncing accounts setup on your iPhone. A couple examples of this would be an Exchange or Gmail account. Having a secondary account such as this would cause this issue. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > (mail account) and see if contact syncing is enabled. If you disable contact syncing for any other account, this may remove contacts on your phone that are associated with that account.
