Q: Reminders not syncing properly with iCloud and iOS 8

I have an iMac running OS X 10.9.4 and an iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.0.2.  I use Reminders on both my iMac and my iPhone and iCloud is turned on for both devices.

If I create a reminder on my iMac, I can see it immediately when I log in to iCloud.com and go to Reminders.  It does not show up on my iPhone.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

If I create a reminder on iCloud.com, it immediately shows up on my iMac.  It does not show up on my iPhone.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

If I create a reminder on my iPhone, it shows up on my iMac and iCloud.com.  If I edit this reminder on either the iMac or iCloud.com, the changes sync immediately between the iMac and iCloud.com but NOT my iPhone.

In order for any edits/deletes to sync to/from the iPhone, I either need to create the event on the iPhone, at which point it syncs any other changes, or I need to create a new dummy event and then delete it, at which point it syncs any other changes.

Basically, it seems like the iPhone needs to initiate a "hey iCloud, here are changes from my end.  Oh, there are changes from other devices?  OK, I'll show those changes" protocol, otherwise it just doesn't receive any updates from iCloud.

I don't think it's an issue with my iCloud account, since Reminders on my iMac and Reminders on iCloud.com sync just fine.

On my iPhone, I have tried:

-Force quitting and re-opening the app

-Changing the Reminders sync options (Settings -> Reminders -> Sync)

-Turning Reminders off and back on under Settings -> iCloud -> Reminders

-Turning the iPhone off and back on

None of those methods have fixed this issue.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue or is this unique to my iPhone?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)

I have been having the same problem for months and could only get my Reminders to sync by manually resetting the calendar On my iphone 5s. I tried the same thing as Tammy1960 suggested (changing the setting to fetch was one of the suggested solutions for the battery drain problem that came with ios 8). In addition to setting the top button to "push" I also had to go into the iCloud setting beneath that and change it to "push." Right now everything seems to be working correctly for the first time.  If this is something that could be causing the issue, you would thnk Apple would include it with the other myriad instructions they have that don't actually correct the priblem.

I have the same problem. It is very unstable and untrustworthy. The way I can get my iPhone 4S to sync is to Turn Off Reminders, delete all from my Phone, then turn Reminders back on. It then loads the proper set of data changed from my Macbook.  Absolutely ridiculous. I have seen a continuous increase in iCloud problems. It is very sad since I was looking to "put my eggs in that basket", but simply cannot due to the emergence of these complications.

Yes - I tried all of the above and it worked for a couple of days.  Now I am back to having to manually sync my iPhone to pick up changes made on my iPad. I have been havig nothing but problems since ios 8.0. Between the lack of usefulness with reminders and calendar functions and Safari becoming all but useless, my iPad is quickly becoming a very expensive paperweigjt.

Hopefully this helps somebody. Had same problem. If you have keychain enabled in settings>iCloud on your iPhone, try disabling and re-enabling. Worked like a charm for me

I've experienced the same issues from Day 1 (12/19).  After several calls to Apple about various iCloud syncing issues the software engineers are finally looking at the issue and hopefully there is is a fix for this iOS 8 bug in the near future.  Right now my MacBook Pro (Late 2008) and iPad (1st Gen) both work flawlessly with iCloud but my iPhone 6 seems to suffer.  Looking at the dates posted on the Apple discussion boards this bug has existed from the beginning and was overlooked numerous times.  This is really something that should have been squashed with one of the first iOS 8 updates.  Hopefully we see a fix in 8.2 or 8.3, maybe by time the Apple Watch is released...

This is what worked for me.

    Change your sync settings

    In iOS 7 or later:

    1. Tap Settings > Reminders.
    2. Under Reminders, tap Sync. If Sync is set to All Reminders, set it to a specific time limit, such as Reminders 1 Month Back (I set it to All reminders ). If it's already set to a specific duration, set it to All Reminders.
    3. Tap the Home button.
    4. Wait several minutes. Then open Reminders and refresh them again.

"EDIT: Ok, it's working again! I simply accessed "Settings -> iCloud *Your Name* >" (first entry). My iPhone asks me immediately for the password. After login, the error disappears and my sync was working again"

****, this has solved my problem!! Thanks!!

I have had this problem until recently -- I am not sure what corrected it.  I tried some of the voodoo mentioned in this thread to no avail.  Then suddenly it started working.  I think it may have something to do with the recent updates to the os's.  Here's my version numbers.

    iOS:  8.2 (12D508)

    OSX: 10.10.3 (14D105g)

Same here. I have iPhone 6 Plus with 8.1.2 and iPad Mini 3 with 8.1.3. The iPhone with older iOS never have this problem since I got it in December. The iPad with newer iOS have this problem since this week, and I only have this thing for 3 weeks.

I strongly believe iOS 8.1.3 cause this problem, which makes me wary on upgrading to 8.2.

The ishe fix is to enter your password in Settings -> iCloud -> your name. But the issue happened again after a while. Seems like 8.1.3 cannot remember the password for Reminder.

Dont bother bringing this to the Apple Genius, they will just tell you to reset the iPhone.

Reset iCloud Documents & Data - Apple Support

Despite this not being updated by Apple, this helped me resolve the issue. I think there is a big of fragmentation of data when we use different devices on iCloud and begin to start using them since different times. iCloud needs to be reset and synced as described above.

    Thanks

    Try resetting all settings:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

After long time with this issue, this has fixed the problem:

-settings - icloud - tap the icloud id and introduce the password

After introducing the password, the reminders syncs again!
