Q: Charger makes Mac completely reset when I touch it

Apr 7, 2015 12:50 PMby Drew Reece,That sounds like a short circuit. Contact the supplier & see if you can return it. I'd listen for any sounds that could indicate a short (sometimes buzzing or other noises can be heard). I'd also stop using the charger ASAP, it could damage the Mac.
Where did you purchase the charger? Is it an Apple charger or a third party copy?

A Magsafe 2 is not compatible with older MBPs.
It is always helpful if one indicates the EXACT model/year MBP one has.

Also, a possibility the computer may need to be tested to see if the 'DC-in Board' aka
'MagSafe Board' may need replacement. This item can cause several issues if bad.
An Apple Store with Genius bar should be able to test the computer & recommend
a course of action to further resolve the issue.
