Apr 4, 2015 5:19 PM in response to lsdaltonby notcloudy,Do you have any podcasts automatically updated? any support updates through Itunes? that may prevent it from quitting.
On the other hand - something in your setup may have triggered a bug so
at least seed bug feedback to apple either through itunes or http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Apr 5, 2015 9:02 AM in response to lsdaltonby Linc Davis,Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES â–¹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View â–¹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to quit iTunes. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Apr 5, 2015 3:32 PM in response to lsdaltonby alasta22,In the top panel of the iTunes window towards the right you should see a menu that you can drop down to log in or out of your iTunes account. If you're logged out then try logging in, or vice versa. See if iTunes will quit after having done this.

Apr 6, 2015 2:54 AM in response to Linc Davisby lsdalton,Thanks Linc
It appears that the same error occurs over and over once I have tried to quit iTunes. I cleared the display, "quit iTunes" and grabbed the first instance that generated.
I looked through and removed some references to my email address. I can see that "user dictionary' has something to do with this... an email address was showing due to shortcuts created. Anyhow, I'll stop yapping and thank-you in advance for any assistance you can provide!

Apr 6, 2015 6:31 AM in response to lsdaltonby Linc Davis,Please back up all data, then open the iCloud pane in System Preferences. If the box marked iCloud Drive is checked, uncheck it and confirm. Your iCloud documents should be preserved on Apple's servers.
Test to see whether there's an improvement, then re-check the box and test again. It may take a noticeable amount of time for your iCloud Drive documents to resynchronize.

I did that; it seemed to make no difference.
Any further ideas?
Thanks so much

Apr 9, 2015 4:23 PM in response to Linc Davisby lsdalton,Sorry for delay Linc
I turned WiFi off. Started iTunes; quit iTunes - it quit immediately.
Turned WiFi back on, problem returned.
With WiFi on, I start iTunes, try to quit - it won't. Then turn WiFi off, then it will quit.
Are we making progress?
Thanks

Apr 20, 2015 11:19 PM in response to lsdaltonby Peter Vandendriessche,I have exactly the same problem. I reinstalled Yosemite, followed all info I could find on the net and this iTunes 12 won't quit. But: when I restart in safety mode, run disk utility, restart again: in that case I can use iTunes and quit, after that, it is back to force quit!

Apr 20, 2015 11:45 PM in response to Peter Vandendriesscheby Peter Vandendriessche,Update: only restart in safe mode and restart again in normal mode does the job, after that I can use iTunes and quit about 5 times normally, after that it goes wrong again! So: no DU required (repairing permissions)
