Q: Can't login to app store

Hello!

this evening there was a update of itunes which i installed. After reboot of my macbook it could noch connect to the app store again. If I try to login to the app store i get a message that says "no connection possible".

Second thing i recognized: The apple-support internet-page is not properly presented if I use Safari. With firefox everything is ok - so i write this using firefox. And Safari says the certificate of the apple-page is not correct. Very strange.

I rebooted my macbook several times - did not help.

Someone here with the same problem - and perhaps a solution?

Best regards

Reinhold

See similar discussions in this forum about the latest Security Update 2015-004. If you're on Mavericks you might be in the same boat I was.

I solved this problem by deleting all VeriSign certificates in my login keychain.

I did not touch any certificates in the System Roots keychain.

I exported the 4 certs there first of course, but App Store and iTunes connected and work properly without them in my login keychain.

    Good luck,

    Ohmi

Triple-click the word "telnet" in the line below on this page to select the whole line:

    telnet swscan.apple.com 443

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.

You should almost instantly get three lines of output below what you entered, the last of which is this:

    Escape character is '^]'.

If there's no output within ten seconds, consider that a failure. Otherwise, please post the output in a reply. You can then quit Terminal.

    Result of swscan.apple.com:

    Trying 17.164.1.22...

    Connected to p01-swscan.apple.com.akadns.net.

    Escape character is '^]'.

Another result of the problem: The maps-application (in Germany it is called "Karten") doesn't work. Window stays black, no map is loaded.

I'm having the same issue as Appelist. I tried the terminal you suggested command and got the following, which I am posting here, as requested. The response was immediate:

    Trying 17.164.1.22...

    Connected to p01-swscan.apple.com.akadns.net.

    Escape character is '^]'.

Deleting the VeriSign-Certificats worked for me as well!

    Thanks a lot!

I found a link to download the combo update in another thread on this issue. That seem to have worked for me although the Mac App Store and iTunes store-related features continue to be flaky; trouble logging in, accessing account info, iTunes Match... I see that Apple is doing maintenance on their stores. I'm hoping that these issues are related to the maintenance and everything will be back to normal soon. Thanks for your help. -John

BTW, here's the link to the other thread with combo update link:

App Store will not update to 10.2.3

    Hello.

I'm currently having similar problem with AppStore app login, meaning i can't login using desktop app. The browser connection is ok.

The login process simply takes ages with no result. You know, the progress circle or "star" keeps spinning, and that's it.

Any assistance on this one, please?

    I have late 2011, mc700, 10.8.5 os version

    Thank you in advance.
