Q: How to get rid of "the shadow" form by the intersection of two bezier masks?

Hi,

I'm trying to create a video where "I make something fly".

To do this, I have used two videos, one is the base video, the other one is the one with the object that I'd like to make fly. I'm using bezier masks to achieve it, and although I have managed to get the result of masking myself whilst holding "the flying object" , the truth is that there is a "shadow" that appears in the final video. This shadow, follows the border of the masks i'm using. As you can imagine, this "shadow" is not pleasant to the eye when you look at the final video.

To solve the problem, I have tried using the blending mode and opacity, but I have failed to succeed. Wonder if anyone out there with more experience than me in  Motion 5 can help me to solve this issue?

Any help will be very welcome!

Thanks!

A screen shot would be most helpful.

Chances are you have the drop shadow active as there should be no artifacts produced by a mask onto the foreground or background layers.

How much experience do you have using the keying and masking effects in FCPX? If not much, spend some time in the online help system.

Don't be shy - you and your girlfriend did the Dirty Dancing stunt, ...

    dirty solo.jpg

That was done in less than a minute with Pixelmators Healing Tool (ok, forgot to remove his hands) .., meant to 'heal' spots, but makes whole humans vanish!!!

Unfortunately just for stills, no such plug-in for video exists (afaik!), and retouching every single frame form a minutes o fmaterial (I assume) .. is no option.

There's a slight misunderstanding how 'Digtal' works: although named 'masks', they don't have a 3rd dimensions, therefor no 'shadows' at the edges possible! But, depending on how you use masks, there are 'borderlines' happening ..

    What David mentioned before:

your compositing technique probably needs more rafinesse.

    And:

Aside a screen shot (a thousand words...) describe you 'vanishing' trick ..

Did you 'stamp' to make your flying rig invisible? Grabbing some pixels nearby and paint if over the unwanted parts? Have seen a tutorial doing this trick ..
