Q: What is newest Safari version for use with OS 10.4.11

My credit union software is asking me to update to a newer version of Safari than 4.1. Does anyone know what version I should be using with OS 10.4.11?

iBook G4 (14-inch Late 2004), Mac OS X (10.4.1)

Since 10.4 is probably not going to support a version of Safari new enough to make your credit union hap[y, you might want to consider using TenFourFox instead. It is available at http://www.technologytell.com/apple/71219/tenfourfox-401-browser-firefox-4-for-p owerpc/

Allan Eckert, you are my hero. I was able to download the newest version of TenFourFox and after an entire frustrating what-the-****-do-I-do-now month, all my bills unpaid and NO ONE able to lend support at the teacher's credit union for their banking software I was in turns, furious, let-down, depressed, and in fear I was going to finally have to learn to use my well-meant Christmas gift of a Chromebook instead of my beloved laptop! I followed your directions and even got to learn how to find my "terminal app" which makes me feel back in touch with actually being able to solve a problem on this old but still useful G4. It is so helpful and unselfish to find people like you who continue to support a product and an ex-computer teacher who developed a strange illness that left me too disabled to work at a job teaching really cool, smart, dyslexic kids in a computer lab that I actually was able to develop way back in 1992. Back then, I was the so-called "expert" just because I developed an interest in using the old Apple IIE machines in my special ed. classroom. I've gotten so frustrated in seeming dead-ends that I had virtually given up trying to stay focused long enough to problem-solve, while hanging on by my fingernails living on Social Security, I had lost the fun of learning new stuff at all just dealing with financial and boring medical issues. Apple's genius at diabolical planning to make machines obsolete hurts us little people and should make me want to ditch them, but I shall not feel so dang helpless now that I have a place to find help-and amazingly it's free. Good going, pat-on-the-back, Gold Star to you and your cronies who continue to do "Good Working!"

Maybe TMI, but I really want you to know that your taking the time to answer my question has been like a little spark that I can feel is going to make a real difference in my life and even outlook. You should be acknowledged for your selfless endeavors and I truly thank you so much! I HAVE A BROWSER I CAN USE now and a place to go for assistance when I need it. It's great to know that and I thank you, and this community. Now I might even write you back to help me restore my iphoto library, which decided to take a hike one day, holding a bunch of my beloved pics hostage! (More on that later, perhaps!)

    thanks, you guys...

    Leslie Mc.
