Nov 28, 2014 8:02 AM in response to SNP001by ajbrutico,You used both cables? Or do you mean that either can be used? What native resolution are you running the monitor at?

Nov 28, 2014 9:37 AM in response to SNP001by ajbrutico,Thanks for the update. Did you leave your color settings the same, or did you find the need to fine tune them? To me the color isn't as vibrant.

Nov 29, 2014 7:12 AM in response to SNP001by zaphod42,good hint SNP001 to test 10.10 on an external drive .... and I can confirm too: the "artifacts and flickering" on the right side of my Eizo screen are gone!
now the dilemma starts ... artifacts or poor design?!
other problem I got with Boot Camp that the monitor runs in 800x600'ish resolution but shows full ... but that doesn't belong here.

Dec 3, 2014 1:24 PM in response to ajbruticoby ajbrutico,What monitor settings are you using? I find the greys are so bright, that they often blend in with the whites....

Dec 22, 2014 7:13 AM in response to Terscionby Moridin___,I have the exact same issues as 60 Hz via a DP 1.2 cable with an Eizo EV3237 - the tearing on the right side of the screen after waking from sleep.
Same problem on two different DP <> MDP 1.2 cables (high bitrate for 4K) - one is a factory cable from Eizo.
Solutions - each one works on its own:
- switch LCD off and on again
- change resolution and change it back
- change dekstop rotation in OS X prefs
RUnning 10.10.1.

Jan 13, 2015 2:00 AM in response to Moridin___by Kharl Mac,Dear all, I think I have found a simply fix to the Mac Pro /Philips 288P issue. the screen is set to Display Port 1:1 at the factory all you need to do is:
Get a good 1:2 cable
Change the settings on the screen to 1:2 display port
Thats it and it works perfectly.
Happy days.

Jan 16, 2015 4:52 PM in response to Kharl Macby DaveDub79,Sorry to resusurrect an older thread but I've been having issues with my Samsung U32970Q and I used the display override that joevt posted but now my Mac Pro thinks I have a U28D590.. What part of the override tells OS X the name of the display?

Feb 16, 2015 10:14 AM in response to joevtby Marc_911,Hi there, and especially joevt,
I've been reading the interesting many previous posts in order to find a solution to this situation:
- Brand new Philips Brillance 288P 4K monitor
- Macbook Air 13" from mid 2010 running OS X 10.6.8
- NVIDIA GeForce 320M
- Mini Display port cable to HDMI into the 288P Display
At first I couldn't get the passed the 1080p, then I downloaded the SwitchResX application and could manage to get to 2560 x 1440 but only at 30hz which is causing me a real headache after 10min.
I also have the Apple Cinema Display at home (the 288P is to put at my parents-in-law's) and on this one everything is fine...
I would totally understand there is no way to push UHD in 4K with my old MBr and setup but why can't I just get the same resolution and refresh rate as on the Apple screen? Am I missing something?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Marc.

You can't do better with HDMI.
If possible, use DisplayPort family.

Apr 11, 2015 3:08 PM in response to digitalcolemanby rbphelan,I have the Samsung U28D590D connected to my late 2013 MacBook Pro and could only get 3840x2160 @ 30Hz on OSX 10.10.2 through the HDMI port. Connecting up to the Thunderbolt port with would not work. After updating to 10.10.3 I decided to try the display port again and was very surprised and pleased to see that I'm now getting 3840x2160 @ 60Hz! Problem fixed.
