    I was having the same issue and realized that it began right after I had a new screen protecter put on my phone.

    Sure enough, I checked and it had been put on carelessly and was actually covering the covering the receiver at

    the top of phone.  Removed it and replaced it properly and now works just great.

    I just got a 6 plus, and was having low audio issues.  Could barely hear callers, even with phone pressed to my ear.  Ironically the loudspeaker worked perfectly. After trying many of the fixes in this forum, I realized that the problem was the factory protective covering which I left on the phone to protect it from damage  (while waiting for the case I ordered online to arrive), was blocking the sound from the phone!!   Once it was removed, the phone worked fine.

    This seems to work,, it is a bit tricky trying to gauge whether my testing method is foolproof, however, I do think the incoming volume has improved.

    Hopefully this setting will not detract or negate volume somewhere else. Thanks

    THE FIX... I took the clear plastic off my new 6+ and I can hear now !!!!

    I'm feeling pretty dumb right now, it was the plastic protective sheet on my new phone completely covering the phone's speaker for your ear.

    I Hope this helps someone else, Including Apple support staff at the store.

    I am not sure why this made the only difference for me but it works.

    Here is what I did;

    Setting > General > Accessibility> Hearing

    Hearing Aid = Off

    Mono Audio = On or Off  (does not seem to matter)

    Phone Noise Cancellation = On or Off (does not seem to matter)

    Adjusted the audio volume balance (L------------R) all the way to the Left and had normal volume.  When I slid all the way to the right I had absolutely no caller volume.

    Slide this all the way to the Left and try.

    Let me know!

    Found out that with this setting the when I play music I only get the left stereo channel.  Apple really needs to fix this.

    I am very unhappy with new IPhone 6...I assumed it would be an improvement on my "4", and it is SOOO NOT.   I get none features that seem worth the cost of new SIM card (the "4" sim does not work, of course), new case,  the phone is bigger..not a plus..  and I CANNOT hear callers well, despite trying every trick this blog and others.   This isNOT what I expect from Apple...if they don't admit this issue and fix it, my trust in Apple is degraded...and that is after decades of Apple computers that I love.
