If this were to be the correct partition, you should see a screen very similar to what I have posted earlier, with System Volume Information. This is very different.

Do you recall the size of your Windows partition prior to the Yosemite upgrade?

Can you check what is in this entry?

    D MS Data 909316096  977104888   67788793

    That was the partition from

    D MS Data 880586752  977104888   96518137

I think the original partition was quite small, possibly 20 or 40GB. As i didn't intend to use it for much i think i went with whatever the minimum option was.

When running TestDisk to find the MS Data line you posted above i get this screen

    9.jpg

if i click on from there:

    10.jpg

    then here:

    11.jpg

none of these numbers align with

    D MS Data 909316096  977104888   67788793

The MS Data entry starting 784068616 gives this result for 'p'

    12.jpg

am i looking in the wrong place?

You will need to run a deeper search (again!), which can take a while.

    OK

    But in these numbers, correct?

    D MS Data 880586752  977104888   96518137

and then i should be looking for these numbers?

    D MS Data 909316096  977104888   67788793

Deeper search is not bound to any specific numbers. The 'P - List Files' will show you files within specific partitions only.

The 96518137 is roughly 45Gb, while 67788793 is roughly 32Gb.

There were several reasons to pick the start I did

    a. because it was MS Data and close to Recovery HD.

    b. The size (last number for MS Data is the same) in the following two entries, which usually indicates a partition being moved from one start location to another.

    D MS Data                784068616  880586752   96518137

    D Mac HFS                879315888  880585423    1269536

    >D MS Data                880586752  977104888   96518137

    c. Your original GPT (from the following entries) has a gap larger than what Yosemite calculated it to be.

    880585424   57457968

    938043392   39061504      4  GPT part - EBD0A0A2-B9E5-4433-87C0-68B6B72699C7

If you choose the following entry, the gap is still significant.

    D MS Data 909316096  977104888   67788793

Loner T you seem to be the man to talk to about this issue. If you have a few moments I would greatly appreciate your help. I started this thread

Bootcamp Windows 7 not working after Yosemite install

please let me know what other info you need. Thank you in advance

The lack of a System Volume Information entry is not a good sign. Just for completeness, can you also check the following two entries?

    D MS Data 938043392  977104895   39061504 [04]

    D MS Data 938043398  977104901   39061504 [04]

The best option at this point is to run the Deeper Search.

You are able to see parts of the file system, but the header is necessary to rebuild the filesystem. On a working Mac, this is what I expect,

If the appropriate header cannot be found, what options do you want to consider? You can try PhotoRec, which is part of the TestDisk suite.

Based on Bootcamp not accessible after Yosemite update, NTFS Undelete ( http://ntfsundelete.com/) may also work for you.

i have most of my data backed up already. my issue was not having the Windows disk and some of the software.

i'm now thinking wiping everything clean is the best way to go.

i have Time Capsule for all the Mac stuff, will that also bring back all the problems too?

i did have a look at deleting the Bootcamp partition but it does not seem to want to let me do that, hence the clean slate idea. Any better ideas?

    1. Do not delete Windows using Disk Utility, use only BC Assistant.

    2. You do not need to wipe the entire drive. After step 1, re-install Windows via BCA. If you run into partitioning issues, they can be specifically addressed.

when using BC Assistant i get this message

    20.jpg

i then tried Recovery but when in Disk Utility the options to Repair or Verify Disk were greyed out for Bootcamp.

Are there any other ways to clean out Windows?
