Q: Bootcamp install not working after update

I have a 2015 MacbookPro 15inc with Windows 8.1 installed under bootcamp. I had an update mess up bootcamp earlier in the year, but was able to fix it using command prompt. However since updating 2 days ago bootcamp has stopped again and anything I do does not work.

When I boot with option key I see a mac and windows option, when I follow the windows I get an immediate blue screen with error 0xc00000e. I have tried various diskpart and bcd commands with no success, in-fact now I have two options for windows on boot, neither of which work.

I have looked at some of the other inputs in the forum and have posted the requested info from command below:

    1. You have 5 GPT entries, not 4. This includes a Windows RE (GPT5).

    2. Your Hybrid MBR is incorrect.

Please post the output of the following commands. This dumps the first block of the Windows filesystem header, which should up as NTFS.

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s4 count=1 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

Based on this output, the MBR can be manipulated. If the Hybrid MBR was created manually, while the installation is using EFI, that can be a second issue.

The header is incorrect. Was the Windows RE (GPT5) created after the Yosemite 10.10.3 Upgrade?

Can you post the output of the following command?

    sudo dd if=/dev/rdisk0s5 count=1 2>/dev/null | hexdump -C

I have not purposely created anything! I played around with bcd commands and diskpart and after that I saw 2 windows option next to the mac at boot with the option key. I did try using a bootable iso i found on a site that would open up a windows so I could visually look at the partition table, but I assumed that all ran off the usb, not creating a partition of it's own.

Also, I don't know if this is an issue, but the bootcamp windows is using bitlocker encryption.

Here is a link to the bootable windows runtime environment I had found (http://www.eightforums.com/member.php?u=50690) (under "About me") if it helps understand/correct any mess I have created...

The link is a subset of what is commonly available on Hiren's Boot CD.

The following steps make GPT4/MBR4 as NTFS in the MBR (only). The partitionType GUID is already MSD. Please ignore the i386 MBR error in the following steps.

    sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0

    p

    setpid 4

    07

    flag 4

    p

    w

    y

Please post the screen or text version of the session. Reboot and Test.

On reboot, still had two windows options. One still went to blue windows error screen and code. The other said to remove disk and press a key.

Do you recall details of what was done using BCD and diskpart commands?

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

The first one worked. The second one stated element not found. When I googled that many places said that meant the partition was not set as active. So I used diskpart to make sure it was active.

    I also tried these commands

bootsect /nt60 c: /force /mbr or some variation on this, there were several mentioned on different forums.

    bcdboot c:\windows /s c:

Out of interest, in the last step you asked me to run it did give the error you were expecting, but I also saw it said invalid command when I typed 07 after setpid 4.

You did not have a space between setpid and 4. The first time it was 'setpid4' (based on your screen shot).

I re-ran the commands again incase i made a mistake, still same issue on boot.

As above these are the bcd commands I used

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
