Q: I have installed the new version of FCP 10.2 on my iMac and MBA and both instalments are crashing on launch. I have tried deleting preferences and have reinstalled FCPX on both machines. Any idea what the problem may be and how to resolve it?

I ran into the same problem.  Tried the Terminal method but it did not help.  Opened FontBook and it had a font highlighted... one that I am creating and had tested, but forgotten to remove.  I deleted that font at relaunched FCPX fine.

I removed all of the user fonts  and the program is launched. Library dragged without problems.

    Problem solved.

Thanks for the tip, but does not seems to work for me:

crashed on the first launch, after trying to update a library. After deleting that library I could start FCPX with an empty one and even crate one. But as soon as I start opening the previous one, FC starts crashing. It just crashes on the updated one. If I open the old not yet updated library FC survives for a while and then crashes.

10.2 on 10.10.3 really fresh installed, no extra fonds installed (as far as I know)

It doesn't have to be a problem with an extra font. It can also be a standard font (or not at all font related).

    You can try this:

    1) Validate fonts. Go to the following support document, scroll down to Validate and check your fonts:

    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201749

If problems are found, delete the affected fonts

If validating doesn't help there can still be font issues.

    2) Check if the problem is bound to the current user.

Create a new user in System Preferences, log in as the new user and start FCP. If it works, the problem is with fonts in your usual user's Library. If not, it's with system fonts.

If FCP starts for the new user, log in as your usual user, go to your user's Library (in Finder type: Command-Shift-G, then: ~/Library) and move the folder called Fonts to the Desktop. Log out and back in and see if you can start FCP.

    3) If that doesn't help or if the problem was System related, open Font Book, go to File and "Restore Standard Fonts". Log out and back in and test FCP.

I followed 1) & 3) but still crashing, did not follow 2) yet, because I don't want to move these big libs around.
