Q: how do i authorize my computer so that i can transfer my music?
iTunes keeps telling me that i need to authorize my computer
so that i can sync my music? How do you do that?

Press Ctrl-B to enable the menu bar if not visible, then select Store > Authorize This Computer... and enter your Apple ID & password. See also If iTunes repeatedly prompts you to authorize you computer - Apple Support.
