In Photo 1.0, how does one access the map showing where all photos were taken, as could be done previously in iPhoto?

Hi All,
Still trying to see the old world map under our photos. I get a grid map under "Places", nearly identical to the old world map, but only gridlines with a beige color. It seems like it is waiting for the map to load, but never comes. Is there a setting that allows the map to underlie our photo inventory?
Steve
PS: In IOS, it comes up perfect.

The grid lines are shown, if the server with the maps cannot be reached. Check, if any firewall is preventing the access to Apple's map server.
I would assume at this point that Apple has removed this feature as well as other well liked ones.
Hi JohnDory,
The information side-bar from iPhoto has been removed in Photos App, and so it's been converted into a pop-up window showing both the exposure, aperture and so technical photo parameters, as well as the comments, faces and LOCATION for that photo.
This small floating window is shown whenever you click the ℹ button in the app title bar, right clicking a specific photo or pressing ⌘i
If you open the albums view (clicking in the name of the album list, NOT an album name, you can see in your left sidebar - which can be shown or hidden) and press ⌘i without selecting a specific photo the Info pop-up will show the map for your whole library (as well as the total amount of photos, videos, GB used, etc)
So, I'm afraid the "Locations" view (which I really loved) from iPhoto has been ripped off... and we can only get "some sort of locations view" by this method.
As for locations... there is no option for manual geotagging (so, setting location to a specific photography which doesn't have it yet)... that really ****** me off

JohnDory and Braincasulties: Thanks for the question, and the great answer. That eases my mind so what.
My real reason for writing however, is the little green word and check mark in the upper right hand corner, and I know it' s not your doing so sorry about involving you. The problem is not solved, the question was answered. This seems like just another problem Apple has. making changes, not improvements. It would also seenm that Apples command of the English language is a bit lacking.
Again, Thank you both, for helping me understand that change in te system.
Cheers,

Hello again, and please forgive me for replying my own post 😝
There is another way to show the map: when you select the left side-bar's first option (clicking on "Photos") or going to the "Moments" view in your preferred way, you might zoom out as much as possible with your trackpad/mouse so that it finally looks like a huge bunch of tiny photos, ordered by the years in which they were taken... ...then, if you double click on the gray text showing the places you visited in a particular year you access a world map showing thumbnails of your photos placed were they were taken in a satellite-like map.
Again, it's only an approach to what iPhoto was doing, and as fourof14 says, this is just a workaround, not the way to find a missing functionality from iPhoto
