Apr 25, 2015 2:23 PM in response to samanthalynne74by Grane Duke,Samantha, It all depends upon the data file size that you want to migrate from a Windows PC onto a Mac. It may take minutes or it can take hours to transfer.
All depends on the file size. There will be a precise countdown time...
Hope this helps...

Apr 25, 2015 2:25 PM in response to Grane Dukeby samanthalynne74,Okay, that's what I thought... Thanks. But should there be some sort of countdown? It worries me that other people have said they had one, but I don't.

Apr 25, 2015 2:32 PM in response to samanthalynne74by Grane Duke,Please give me some information of your macbook air specifications. Also, what cable are your using to transfer files.... Are you using an ethernet cable.... If using ethernet then what ethernet adapter are you using...??

Apr 25, 2015 2:31 PM in response to Grane Dukeby samanthalynne74,It's a brand Mac Air, I literally just bought it today. I'm just doing it over the wi-fi, because that's what the program told me to do when I started. I can look for an ethernet cable if you think that would work a lot better?

Apr 25, 2015 2:36 PM in response to samanthalynne74by Grane Duke,Don’t worry about the ethernet transfer method.... You will need adapters and cables. Plus, the method is really outdated.
Use USB method. Its the most simple and reliable data transfer method. Have you got a external hard disk onto which you can backup your music files...??

Apr 25, 2015 2:41 PM in response to Grane Dukeby samanthalynne74,Yeah, I can do that. How do I cancel the transfer that's already going on? And are you sure I shouldn't just try to wait it out, since it's already been hours? I have no idea how much of my music may have already been transferred and I'm not sure I should cancel it.
Thank you so much for your help!

Apr 25, 2015 3:00 PM in response to samanthalynne74by Grane Duke,Transferring large data onto a machine over a WI FI network is not so reliable as a slight problem in WI FI signal can disrupt the data transfer.
I won’t suggest you to wait for the results.
If you can’t see any Cancel option then directly close the window or quit the application.
Backup, the music files from your windows PC then simply connect the external drive to your macbook air.
Important
Before backing up your windows files on the external hard disk, please format the disk to “ exfat “ format. As, this format is compatible with Windows and Mac OS for big data transfer.
Makes sense....??

Apr 25, 2015 3:04 PM in response to Grane Dukeby samanthalynne74,Okay, I can do that. My issue now is that there's no way that I can see to quit the application. I haven't even started up my computer properly; I got it brand new, I opened it and turned it on, and like the first thing it told me to do was the file transfer.

Apr 25, 2015 3:24 PM in response to Grane Dukeby samanthalynne74,Oh, duh, sorry. I did that and shutdown my PC. The transfer screen still didn't go away on my mac, so I manually powered it down and I'm going to wait a minute before turning it back on and hope it's gone...
