Apr 27, 2015 10:26 AM in response to Deborah Meyerby Grane Duke,Hi Deborah....!!
You should follow these instructions if you intend to sell or give away your mac. In this case, you have made a decision to give away your macbook to your Daughter. Right...??
Please Follow this..........What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support
You need to Deauthorise your macbook (It can be authorised again easily by following simple instructions), sign out from different accounts and many more. You just cannot migrate your personal data onto your new macbook and delete that data from your old Macbook. If you don’t follow the right instructions then maybe your Daughter might face difficulties while operating your macbook. I hope you understand What I mean to say.....
Hope this helps.....

Apr 27, 2015 10:31 AM in response to Deborah Meyerby OGELTHORPE,Not to cause conflict, but I would do the exact opposite what Klaus 1 is advocating. Instead of deleting files, select the ones you want on the new MBP, transfer them and when you are done, erase the old MBP. The net result is that all of the useless files are thus eliminated.
Ciao.

Apr 27, 2015 11:03 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby Grane Duke,Ogel, I concur with you.
But don’t you think that Deborah should delete her entire user account that will fully wipe her data on her old macbook....?? That will also be beneficial to get rid of the entire unwanted data, thus making enough space for her Daughter to save her own personal files...
Just a thought though......
