Classic Mac OSAre you using an educational web site? Education sites tend to be behind the time.
You could try "lying" to the site about what browser & platform you are using.
What you want to do is change your user agent to claim to be what your web site want. Try safari on a mac or ie on a pc.
iPad web browsers set to IE:

If you need to buy a web browser, I recommend icab.

You will have to try the site with the adjusted user agent. May or may not work.
